Centennial Conference soccer championship

I guess the big news at Swarthmore is beating two-time defending champ Johns Hopkin for the Centennial Conference mens soccer championship on Sunday. The first men's championship for Swarthmore since their last football championship in 1984. The men were ranked #11 in the country before the Conference final four brackets this past weekend. Now they are off to the national tournament.

BTW, if you haven't read it, the Brendon Work '10 article on study abroad in Nepal from Swat's homepage is a fabulous piece of writing:

It's worth following the link in the article to his photography blog. Wow. Terrific photos.

I think it's great to see such talented young people.

So Swarthmore hosted first and second round matches in the NCAA Division III mens soccer tournament this weekend. Beat Rutgers-Camden on Saturday and Dickinson today to move on to the Sweet 16 round next weekend. Next on tap is a match against the NESCAC champions, Amherst College.

And the women won the ECAC South title, for the second year in a row. Congratulations to both teams!
