Cerro has front-loading (not top-loading) washers so use HE detergent. With HE detergent, you use less liquid per load and it suds less. If you aren’t sure, buy the detergent after you arrive.

OK, the move-in is complete. Whew!

Looking at all the material we moved into my daughter’s apartment, I started to wonder where all this was going during move-out in June. Being from Seattle, I don’t want to have to drive down and pick it up. Any ideas on where students can store posessions during the summer?

There are a couple of storage places in town that have various-sized lockers. They can be rented for a month at a time. I don’t have direct experience with any of them.

Also, students who rent houses off-campus might be willing to keep a few things in their garage over the summer.

We are from out of state and my daughter stored her stuff with Meatball Movers and Storage – out Higeura St. Overall, it was a good experience for her. I would recommend finding someone to share the storage locker with and split the cost because they are quite large!

Hi momomom,
Did they actually do the move and bring the stuff back at the end of summer? D doesn’t have a car, and I’d love to get this accomplished without having to show up with a rental.
Thanks for the info :)

They do have an arrangement where they can come get the stuff and store it. My daughter had a friend with a car who helped her move. I think by the end of the school year you daughter will probably know someone who can help her. The other option is to use a zip car. She should register for that during the school year so it’s available when she needs it at the end of the school year.

And, yes, it’s nice for them (and us, having just driven 16 hours home from SLO) just to step on the plane and come home!

I know of a Meathead Movers in SLO that some kids use. My daughter’s WOW leader had a photo of one of their trucks on her FB page.

Not in SLO, but in Bloomington, IN they have a place called “Guys and Dollies” that I thought was a cute name.

momofmv-Does your son live on the 3rd floor Morro??? My daughter maybe one of the girls that live across the hall.

Yes! He does live 3rd floor Morro.

Sounds like they have a bunch of fun together with their weekly dinners.

Yes! That is so awesome! They are a bit isolated from the other rooms, so I wondered how that would work. Glad to hear that the two rooms are hanging out and doing a lot together. That makes the whole experience more fun!

It is a bit isolated but it forced them to become good friends with their only neighbors. Good thing is less traffic. My daughter said the courtyard side is kind of noisey.

yes, I could see that as a problem. It will be very nice when midterms and finals come.
It seems there are plenty of opportunities to meet other people at Cerro anyway. Last night he was heading to a Safety Meeting at 9:30 pm! There is always the laundry room and the community center too, but having good neighbors is the best!
