(CFA) Undergrad Finance vs accounting vs econ vs stats

Hey everyone,
Currently, I am an undergrad student at Ohio University - Athens. I was previously in electrical engineering, but decided against that recently and am looking for some advice on what to major in. I love math and science is a close second. Eventually, I want to land a job in the finance industry and hopefully get my CFA. I have heard from people that just finance or accounting is good enough for the CFA, and from others ive heard that you should major in econ/math/stats in order to gain the analytical skills you dont learn in finance/accounting. What I am not sure about is whether I can even handle the math in stats or math... which one is easier of the two? Which, of all of these majors, is the best to prepare me for CFA / a career in finance?

Thanks for any advice!
Alex

Also, the accounting degree is by far the strongest of any of these majors at my school. The second would be finance, then econ, and finally math/stats…

Do employeer care if the math/stats dept isnt the strongest?

Hands down the best degree for CFA/finance career is a degree in Finance. Make sure you get some accounting course work in though because i hear that the accounting part of the CFA is not easy. That being said, I know it is possible to learn it all from the exam prep, since the CFA is designed as a self study process.

Your best bet for Finance/CFA would be Fin/Acct double major. It will give you more flexibility and a wider range of career options. I personally can’t stand accounting so I’m only doing Finance and am planning on getting my CFA/MBA down the road. I wouldn’t bother with econ/math/stats. Those are for people who don’t have undergrad business degrees available at their schools but want to go inot Finance/Business.
