Ch-ch-ch-ch-chances

hey all,
i’ve lately been doing some research into brown and i’ve become a complete brownie lol. i personally want to major in both engineering and architecture and i think that brown will allow me to explore both. and i love it’s liberal environment

i am sciency and yet very artsy so i am a strange mix of interests…

alright so here are my stats and what not, and i would realy appreciate it if anyone would be able to tell me my chances!

GPA
UW: 93.4
W: 95.8
Rank: top 10% of a class of about 230

SAT 1
Math: 780
CR: 640
WR: 670
I’ve only taken them once and I will be taking them again

SAT 2
Math IIC: 780
Bio: 700
Chem: 650
Do you think I should take any extra SAT II’s cause of that chemistry score?

AP - US History 4

Senior classes - 4 AP classes

EC’s
In-school
Editor in chief of school newspaper, art club, environmental action club, NAHS, NHS, NSHS, MAO, tennis

Out-of-school
Chelsea sculpture park development intern, ACE Mentorship program, Community Blood Services volunteer, Vacation Bible School, Halcrow Summer Intern

And my passion is art so i may want to write about that in my essays.

Thankss

Are you doing RIDS then also?

Anyways though, I usually don't comment on these, but since I asked you a question, I might as well tell you what I think.

You have a chance, obviously, like everyone else.

Everything about you is so-so and pretty typical. I don't see anything that pops out at me.

That said though, I also wish to apply to Brown with my not-so-good stats, but I really hope to write great essays about the many hardships I had to endure.

Good luck!

I'm not going to apply to RISD because I'm just NOT ready. i don't have a portfolio ready and etc.etc.

I also think that I really need to hit the essays right on and show a side of me that may be a bit more EYE-catching.

Ah good luck with your application to Brown too!

I see...
Well, good luck on your apps too!

yeah, definitely retake the SATs, or just take the ACT, which most people prefer. If you just took AP US, you may want to consider the subject test. I took it a month after the AP exam and got a 770; so if you still remember a lot, you should consider it.

yeah i've been considering the us history subject test because I think it may be the only test I could get 750+ in the 2 months i have to study.

What were the questions like? Were they as specific as the AP questions?

not really, I'd say you could logic it out more than the AP test.
I took two practice tests the night before in the KAPLAN book and got a 770 on one and a 780 on the other, so those seem like pretty accurate questions, (because I got a 770 the next day), so if you want to get a sense of the test, flip through that guide book.

oh ok, that's good to hear. the ap questions were prety specific. thanks

has anybody visited brown yet?? I'm planning to visit soon. How do you like the city of providence?
