ch-ch-chance me p-please?

teehee that was my rendition of a poor orphan! now lets get dirty -

What I want: BERK, UCSD, UCSB, UCLA in that order of preference
Major: History
Major GPA: 3.8....one B in East Asian History, as well as an A- in Greek History.
IGETC: will be done by spring
pre reqs - will all done for all desired UCs IN THE FALL, cept UCSB. UCSB will be done in winter.

Cum GPA: ~3.5....with a really good upwards trend! Looking at each quarter individually-
Fall: 3.21
Winter: 3.52
Spring: 4.0
Summer: 4.0 (three classes!)
Fall: going to work my tail off for another 4.0

I CANNOT DO A TAG, because I'm one class short of the 30sem/45 quarter units needed to apply for a TAG.
So basically, im guaranteed entry into NO school so this makes me a little jittery.

ECs: Honors Program, Honors Club (have about 3hrs/weekly here), Law Association (a club), part-time job (20hrs/weekly) where I'm an assistant to the the company's legal dept, and ESL tutor 4hrs/weekly.

hmmm....what else? my essays? i think they'll be great, I have an endless passion for researching and thoroughly knowing and understanding what makes history...history! which makes my part-time job super fun because a lot of it is researching companies and specific laws and whatnot

okay this was long winded.
let me know what you guys think! BE BRUTAL. tear me apart please, you guys will lessen the pain of rejection letters. ;[

Berk and LA are far stretches but then again crazier things have happened. So still apply. I would say you have a 60% chance at UCSD and a 70% chance at UCSB.

Hope it all works out for you…

as someone who went through this whole process already,
i think your chances are, completely realistically:
UCSD- 93%
UCSB- 97%
UCLA- 50/50, but I think you do have a very good shot (maybe a 60-74% chance)

and Berk is the trickiest. in the end, it will pretty much come down to your personal statement.

all those numbers i gave are dependent on what you do in fall '10. so try your best to maintain a 4.0 GPA (they will ask you for a fall update in january), get all major prereqs done, and make sure you’re finished with stuff like english/math.

good luck!

Ah thank you thank you TonyPreMed and HigherHopes! I will indeed try my hardest for the personal statements, and thank youu for the luck :D
