Challenging Schedules

I'm a Political Science major who just got back from orientation with this schedule:

GE Cluster 70A - Life & Cosmos
Political Science 6R -Statistical Research
Political Science 50R - Comparative Government

Is it potentially harmful (GPA and sanity-wise) to take two polisci courses my first quarter at UCLA? Should I switch to some easy GE's and ease my transition to college?

Any other thoughts on the relative difficulty of freshman schedules is greatly appreciated.

How many classes are the GE Cluster? (equivalent) I’ve had a mixed bag of reviews regarding clusters, due to their inflexibility (and GPA hurt). I can’t really answer since I never took a GE Cluster, so enlighten the rest of us.

clusters count for 3 ge’s… i didn’t take it, but for the most part, my friends that did were utterly miserable and wished they’d just taken 3 easy ge’s to meet the requirements. they are a lot of work with long lecture hours, large research papers and volunteer hours for some of them. honestly, if you aren’t super interested in the topic, don’t take it.

Life & Cosmos is really interesting. My cousin took it and loved it. It explores a fascinating range of isuues. She described it as “mind-broadening”. She did very well, in part because she was really interested in the subject matter. She is majoring in Econ by the way.

How do people feel about the 2 poli sci classes? I am also currently enrolled in those two and wondering if I should just wait and take them separately when they aren’t the research version.

Hey seaboard1…can you PM me…I’d like to get to know the only other freshman in the class!!!

Any current PoliSci majors with an opinion?

Bu ba bump!!!

ge cluster 70 may be interesting but its still alot of reading and work.
