I ea'd to Northeastern and ed'ed to BU. BU has been my dream school since 10th grade, and they rejected me... now I'm looking towards Northeastern. I really wanna be in the Boston area for college. I've been seeing my college experience in Boston for the longest time, but since I didn't get into Boston U. (which my guidance counselor told me I had a 50-50 chance of getting into), I don't think things will fare that way... enough of this self-pity though. Here's my stats:

2.606 GPA Unweighted (School is highly competitive/known)
I'm white
2010 SAT Score - 630 Reading - 700 Math - 680 Writing
Essay: A Yale graduate helped me write it...just assume its really good.
Extra-currics: Just assume a lot; lol.

Sorry for providing very little information. I just wanna know - people HAVE gotten into Northeastern with my GPA before right? What do you all think my chances are? I'd be willing to answer more questions about my application.

Hmm. That GPA might kill you. Weighted must be around a 3.0 or so right? Now that the school’s getting so competitive, that might be a bit tough. Unfortunately NU doesn’t have an supplemental essays, but you could try to get in contact with the admissions office and let your name be known. Don’t forget that there are a dozen other schools in the Boston city, have you looked at Suffolk? For sure look at Suffolk, so you can be in Boston, and then transfer to BU or NU after a semester.
ooof. I’m sorry about BU It’s my top school too but i’m apply RD.
I’ve applied to Northeastern EA- just waiting now.

What other schools in Boston/near Boston should I apply to that are similar to B.U. and Northeastern? Is Suffolk as good as BU and NE? I’ve never heard of it…lol

Sorry guy, I dont think NU is going to offer you better news. NU lets significantly less people in than BU. There was a 3 point difference in SAT scores and the same average GPA last year. Suffolk or maybe Emerson may be good schools to look at. Or maybe somewhere like Syracuse or American

dude sorry bro… i got rejected by BU too! ED haha
but im not gonna let a stupid rejection letter let me down
im trying to look at more colleges in Boston so maybe i can transfer to BU later

on the letter it says we still have a chance when they look at our senior grades.
so we still have a chance man!

you might want to list your intended major and other stats to get a clearer picture
sorry about your bad news, but I woould be willing to bet that there is another school in Boston that will suit you Wishing you luck

Suffolk, frankly, is not as good as bu and is a little below nu. However, location location location- it’s main buildings are located right on the edge of Boston commons. For something cheaper, umass- Boston is your best bet and you will probably get in. I reccomend Suffolk though, I have a friend who goes there and he likes it a lot. He wanted to go to Emerson but thought the people were too weird…
Glad to see another normal person with a normal gpa on here hah.

A little below? You are talking about 250 points on the old SAT and a difference of 0.7 in GPA, not to mention Suffolk lets in just under 90% of the students that apply. I think you are too good for Suffolk, unless you were looking at getting a good amount of merit aid. I think Emerson or even Emmanuel, Wentworth, Weelock if you really want to stay in Boston. Pace in New York might be a very good option.

aww man…thats really too bad u got rejected…those SAT scores rock! ur GPA might have done u in :/…schools like those like to see 3.6s around there…i hope i get into both tho… best of luck to u with NU
