I'm sorry.. I think this is a long reach.. Despite your Fantastic and incredible Extra curriculars, MIT still does look at your SAT scores and GPA... If you can get into MIT with a 590 Math score... total congratulations

your URM is not gonna overlook your GPA and your horrible (honest) SAT score

and MIT is one of the colleges were grades are looked at more than ECS, so while your extracurriculars are great and will help, there is a limit to how much they will actually influence the decision

To be honest, his SAT scores aren't horrible, in fact, they're above average. However, you need to be far, far above average to get into MIT. I'm thinking very very high reach, but good luck either way.

Hey dnt be offended by what others are saying. What i have gathered from seeing people get rejected with 2380s is that SAT isnt everythin. But on the honest note, your SATs need an increase to compliment your ECs...so do the SATs in January...MIT lets you do that...just drop them an email...and make sure u register before the 26th of dec...
I dont think many people know of a student who got 1700s in his SATs and got into MIT...obviously he must have had exceptional essays and ECs...but it does show that everyone has a chance depending on whether they have something that the college is attracted to. MIT seems to be like the university that places an emphasis on community service and you have showed your community awareness...so if you emphasise that it should help you look better...but try to increase ur SAT scores...coz you dont want to give them any reason to reject you...

People should really note that SATs arent everythin...its about the match..and sometimes you click and sometimes you dont...thats all...

MIT is a SCIENCE SCHOOL! 99% of all students score 700 minimum. Some people just aren't good test takers, but there is no excuse for a 590 if you've taken AP Calculus. That's just ridiculous. The vast majority of math questions barely go up to Algebra 2.

I also don't see any science-related e.c.

Good luck! I'd aim for something else though.

Omg. These animals... these feigns.. these revolting creatures that refer to themsevles as CC members are so idiotic. Anyone who says your SAT scores are "horrible" truly deserves to attend a community college.

With that said, I think your chances are slight. Your scores are in fact below par, but you never know. Everyone has a chance, even these demons that come in here bashing you.

Are you joking!!!!!!!!! I can't say this again. Your SAT's are horrible. Yuor school must be rediculously bad if you've taken all these upper level courses and you can't manage to get above even a 2100 on the SAT. Yes its one test. Yes you are an URM. No that will not make up for your scores. Don't even think about applying.

to improve your chances, id say that you should take the sat again and focus on the math especially. also, i'm not sure, but mit probably requires more than one sat ii- so you can take math 1c or 11c or another science because that will look good to them.

things that can help you- i don't know your gpa but if your school is competitve then maybe, your ecs, recs and essays and of course, the urm factor.

i think you should definitely apply if you're that interested in going there- the worst that can happen is that they say no but at least you will have tried.
