The GPA, assuming it is correct, is in the last 5% of the range of those who get accepted, plus your SAT is also lower than the 1460 median. The odds aren’t very good, but you never know, you seem to have a lot of good extracurriculars.

You can check out the UC GPA of accepted students from your through the UC Info Center. This might put your GPA in context with your peers

My son was accepted with a 3.88 uw and 35 act. His GPA still put him in top 10% of his class. He had very routine ECs and volunteering. His essays focused on his positive traits and how he was actively engaged in HS campus activities.

I thought 4.29 was the 25th percentile @ProfessorPlum168 ? And I’m gonna get the Sat up to atleast 1460 but I’m grinding for a 1500+

Hmmm did you edit the original post? Maybe I got mixed up with some other thread. Sorry about that. You probably are fine, if you are applying for L&S. If you are applying for CoE or CoC, you probably need to raise the SAT somewhat since it is below the median.

Some UC Statical Data below. 2019 Admit data not yet available but GPA ranges and SAT ranges are updated 2019 data from the UC website.

2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 4.20 or above capped weighted and not major specific: UCB: 37%

Fully weighted range: 4.00-4.44

2019 UC capped weighted GPA averages: UCB: 4.23

2019 Data:
25th - 75th percentiles for SAT totals: UCB: 1340-1540

There seems to be a typo on the UCB website indicating a Weighted GPA range of 4.29-4.00 which does not make sense for the Middle 50%.

Yeah I saw that typo too. @Gumbymom thanks for the input!

@ProfessorPlum168 yeah I’m going to apply L&S since I’m more of a social science guy than a chemist or engineer kind of guy
