Vanderbilt is my #1 choice, does being asian and from the northeast help? thank you.

Schools:
Vanderbilt (ED)
babson
university illinois
university wisconsin
miami of ohio
university of notre dame(EA)
penn state

um, i started a company the product is a instant beverage cooler, its hard to explain. but its a new technology. i got patents. its a register company. i also have a venture captalist. we are in the process of talking to beverage and super markets for deals.

Cool. Because my question is this - I kind of have my own small company as well (that’s definitely not as serious as yours lol). Basically I do freelance graphic design for small dotcoms and I’m thinking of branching out and doing some concert photography as well. Are you planning on applying for financial aid? I was talking to my dad about what to write on my app, and I wanted to say how much I make yearly, but he said not to since it might ruin my chances of getting financial aid … not sure how much truth there is in that.

Vanderbilt (ED) - match/lowlowlow reach
babson - unfamiliar with the school
university illinois - match
university wisconsin - match
miami of ohio - match
university of notre dame(EA) - match/low reach
penn state - match

My cousin is attending Vanderbilt this fall and he definitely doesn’t have a resume as impressive as yours… I think his only thing is Siemens.

Thanks

Edit: oh, and forgot to mention - being Asian is actually a bad thing. I’m asian too, and I’m repeatedly told I have lower chances than people with similar stats since I’m asian and from southern california. ):

I’ll give you a slightly more thorough chance, since you gave me a pretty good one.
SAT wise, youre just good for these schools, not great. But you seem to be a definite “do-er”, which is extremely attractive. I think you’ll be in at your ED school, Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt (ED)-match
university wisconsin-in
miami of ohio-in
university of notre dame(EA)-slight reach
penn state-in

If you have legitimate venture capital backing and a product on the market, why are you not trying top business schools? If it’s BS they’ll know it, but if as you say you have a leading VC who has committed money to a company you run, you would be a serious candidate at Wharton.

hmom5, hi yes it is a legitimate venture captalist firm. its one of the largest in the World and the president of the firm is listed on the Vanderbilt website as one the most famous business alumni of Vanderbilt. but he is not the one that put the money in, it was one of his partners at the firm that did. having said that the product is not yet on the market. we are trying to make arrangements to put it on the market. also i don’t want to go to Warton or any of those business schools. its just not for me. so having all the information what are my chances at the schools listed? thank you.

If you’re going to Vanderbilt as ED, I’d put my chips on your acceptance. What I’m curious about is why you’re not applying to any of those more prestigious universities? I could see you a low low reach for Cornell, if you got your SAT marks a bit higher and your GPA also. That company thing really puts a shine in your application.

Radddd, hi i don’t care much for more prestigious universities. i mean Vanderbilt is a perfect fit for me. i just can’t see myself at Cornell or Harvard and the name and ranking of a college doesn’t really matter to me.
