Chance a college transfer

I am a NJ resident attending a community college in Jersey and I am currently enrolled in summer classes and have 1 semester left before I am finally done with this place. I actually used to go to Monmouth University years ago but didn't do well and had financial issues so I withdrew and started working. I am studying Accounting and I was just wondering what my chances are if I apply for admissions into Spring 2014.

My cumulative GPA at Bergen Community College is a 3.7. Is there really any other information that is needed when it comes to an OOS transfer student?

I’ll try to help out, even though I’m not going to the College of Business Administration. Any business or accounting majors, feel free to jump in!

Check out this page for useful information from the Fisher School of Accounting:

Specifically, check out the Students Admitted link on that page. That’ll give you an idea of your chances. The school seems to admit only about a dozen transfer students in Spring semesters, and the average GPA for the last 2 years has been 3.76 (2013) and 3.72 (2012) overall, with an average pre-professional GPA of 3.87 and 3.86, respectively.

I’d say your chances are below average just based on the GPA, but if you’ve got a good hook in your admissions essay, or a 4.0 GPA on your pre-professional classes, you might get in.

I don’t know if being OOS puts you at a disadvantage against in-state transfers. I’ve heard some say it does, but I don’t think anyone can know exactly how true that is because UF uses a “holistic” admissions process.

Thank you GatorNuke for the information. I will be sure to write a knock out paper, whether I can raise my GPA anymore or not!
