Hey Everyone- I am currently a freshman at NYU and really want to transfer. There are a variety of reasons I will not get into but I am super concerned about my chances at these schools given my desire to transfer. Any feedback would be very, very much appreciated!

Hey Guys Thanks for the responses....I was accepted today into the U-Mass Amherst Honors program and to BU.....and yeah, I have heard, given my extended wl status at gtown, that BC would be the hardest

is the GSP program at NYU an honors division? if so, that may make the somewhat weak 3.4 look better. w/ your status at Gtown, college GPA is mostly what they will consider.

No, it is actually a deferral from CAS, making it one of NYU's lesser respected schools. But when I asked Georgetown last year if it would make a difference they said "What is GSP? AS long as it is NYU we do not care".....Also, if it helps, my 3.4 was the result of one class which I wrote a letter to Georgetown explaining. I received 2 As, a B+ and a C+(the class) first semester.

Crog, any idea how they look at NYU in comparison to other colleges? It's somewhat difficult to determine one's chances, without considering this... Although the avg. GPA at Georgetown and I think BC is a 3.7--I'm sure you know this--many of the kids applying are from CCs. I would think that NYU would rank higher than a CC, in terms of difficulty of classes.

And, which class was the issue? Writing the Essay?? I know that class can be very mixed... It's definitely good that you contacted them and explained the situation. Gtown might want to see your spring semester grades, so I would ask your professors to try to post them on Albert as soon as possible. Then maybe go into the office, and have your transcripts faxed to Gtown right away. This is what I'm doing, just in case.

It sounds like you're kinda a "hook" candidate, with your internship credits. That'll give you a slight bump over other applicants, who don't have as much professional experience; Gtown really likes to see leadership.

I'm sure if you presented yourself well on the application, you have a good shot. Also Gtown is more "transfer-friendly" than BC, just in terms of the admitted percentage.

Congrats on the places where you've already been accepted!
