Chance a future doctor ;)

Hi everyone! I would really appreciate any estimates of my chances at top schools. I really want to go to med school one day, because it is my dream to be a doctor. My favorite subjects are English and Social Sciences, though I don't mind some hard science (like psych and environmental science). I'm not really a fan of chem right now, but my parents say that it gets easier when you get into organic chemistry, so I'm praying for some guidance and help there. I WANT TO BE A DOCTOR MORE THAN ANYTHING. Thank you for your time, and God bless.

Stats:
SAT - 2210 (770W, 750CR, 690M)
SAT II - Math 2: 760, Chem: 730 (Wow...I can't believe I pulled that off...I studied for years for that with my dad, because I HATE chem SO MUCH), Spanish 780, USH 800
Awards: Most Improved Science Student (Given to one student in the school who exhibited great improvement in the area of science - I raised my AP Chem grade two letters in 1 week by doing extra credit sig fig problems), Member of winning Science Bowl Team, AMC - 69
Class Rank - Top 50% (I know, not the best, but my school is really hard. Last year, we even sent a kid to HARVARD sigh )
Weighted GPA: 3.8 - pretty good...though I wish I had a 4.0
Senior year course load:
APES
AP Psych
AP Chem (retake) - I hope they like that I'm taking these three science classes!!
Honors Calc 1
English 12
Government and International Studies
Phys. Ed. (Presidential Athlete)

Religious affiliation: Evangelical Christian
ECs:
Ran for student body president 4 times (didn't win, but learned a lot)

Essays: I think they were good. I wrote about my parents' influence on my career decisions, and how thankful I am for all of their support.

About me: I love God, literature, and my family. I don't enjoy science class, but I really want a career in medicine so that I can help people and uphold the family honor. I am so greatful for this opportunity. I want to learn a lot in college, but I DEFINITELY don't want to party or become a user. I want to grow in my faith.

Also accepted: Liberty University, Got an interview for HPME Northwestern
Deferred: U Chicago EA
Applied to MIT, Vanderbilt, Harvey Mudd, Tulane, and Barnard

THANK YOU! <3

Organic Chemistry is a beast of a chemistry course so it doesn’t get any easier.

MIT: Reach
Harvey Mudd: Reach
Barnard: Reach
Vanderbilt: Reach
Tulane: Match
HPME NWU: Reach

I agree with Catria, though I might list Barnard as more of a possible than a reach, though it’s closer to a reach than to a probable. I think what’s going to reflect worst from your application is that you’re in the top 50% at your school. Even if you go to one of the most competitive private high schools in the country, you’re still going to (at least) want to be within the 20 percentile range to be in the radar of top universities. If possible, I’d recommend you don’t show that statistic to colleges you’re applying to.

Catria is always spot on with chances. I disagree with her regarding Vanderbilt. With 1520 of Math+Cr she belongs to their top 75th percentile. I think the OP is match for Vanderbilt, despite class ranking.

At least Barnard and Vanderbilt aren’t as high as reaches as MIT…

Thanks for the replies, guys!

Here’s a list of the classes I’ve taken, and the grades received, so that you can see how rigorous my schedule is. Thanks!

I think my class rank might be so low, because I didn’t take a lot of AP/Honors classes. But I DEFINITELY challenged myself! Tbh, I don’t really know if my school is that highly ranked (I was just guessing because we did send a kid to Harvard).

Senior, just got my first semester grades , I hope colleges don’t look at the Midyear report too much:
APES - C (Bad, I know, but it’s a HARD AP!)
AP Psych - B
AP Chem (retake) - B
Honors Calc 1 - B
English 12 - A
Government and International Studies - A
Phys. Ed. (Presidential Athlete) - A

SENIOR YEAR GPA: 2.8 - A bit of a drop, but I don’t think they’ll care.

My main essay was about how important my family is to me, and how they influenced me to pursue medicine and science, even though its hard.

My extracurricular essay was about my church involvement, and how important it is for me to spread my faith! I hope they like it <3 Liberty U really did - they sent me an extra letter thanking me.

Here is my own estimate of my chances.
MIT: Reach
Harvey Mudd: Match
Barnard: Match
Vanderbilt: Match
Tulane: Safety
HPME NWU: Match
