Recommendations: One from APUSH teacher, one from likely Physics teacher. For some schools will have close associates I've been working with who are also big-alumni of the schools write a rec. or two. Only those people who have seen my experience in the field, I've been working with most of them for 2 years on a equal level. Guidance counseler seems ambitious for me.

Awards: Not many. Departmental awards and NM Commended.

Extracurriculars: I can only give generalizations, as if I went into a significant level of detail it would be very easy to just google me. I am a very well-known and accomplished youth political leader in the Democratic Party on the national stage, and have accomplished a good deal of things. I'm not 'the' head of the youth movement/organization for the Democratic Party, but I'm close to such. I'm head of a lobbyist group in NY that is very well supported by the state machine, from our Senator to most congressmen, and have participated in press-covered debates against politicians and such. I'm very well connected and likely will be having some of my close work associates who are prominent help me out a bit with some admissions too. [I sometimes suprise myself that I'm doing all these things while still so young!] I still do some stuff in my school though, serving as VP of SG and likely will become pres. next year, along with a math club and one or two other clubs which I devote some time to, but obviously not much since I'm a very busy person. In short they demonstrate strong passion and national leadership ability and accomplishment. I would rate them at the top even by CC standards, but I can't say specifically due to the fact that I have news and articles about me.

Future Career: Law school, practice for a few years, and then run for public office.

OVERALL SUMMARY:
Strong test scores, strong GPA and transcript, weak class rank, strong grade trend, good recommendations, unique strong extracurriculars, high-income surburban multiethnic person.

Finished List of Schools [Except Ivies, deciding which ones to wiggle out]: My strategy is that I'll apply to a few schools early action and one early decision and thus reduce the wave of anxiety, and then apply to mostly reaches in regular. Note: For my safety/low match schools, please chance me for the honors colleges/big scholarships, not the regular programs.

Early Action/Rolling Decision Schools:
University of Chicago
University of Maryland - CP [Honors College]
University of Pittsburgh [Honors College]
Rutgers University at New Brunswick [Honors College]

Regular Decision Schools:
Georgetown University
John Hopkins University
New York University
George Washington University [Honors College]
University of Delaware [Honors College]
University of Virginia
Duke University

Princeton University
Harvard University
Yale University
Brown University
Columbia University
Cornell University
Dartmouth College
[Will visit ivies more in detail this summer and fall to wittle down the list]

Thanks!

Forgot to mention, I have the slew of internships, college classes [A's in them], Boy's State and that slate of things too.

Are you applying to Georgetown SFS or just Georgetown?

I believe the business school or the college - unsure which one yet

I think you'll do well in the admissions process. A little vague, I know, but I can't really say any more.

You and me are in the same boat, It looks good to me, good luck, hope to see you on Capitol Hill, Republicans > Democrats :P

Haha thanks. Democrats >>>>>>>>>>> Republicanz

It seems that, based on your interests, you would have good fit at UVA. You've got a decent shot at admission to the University.

by putting all that stuff makes me turned off reading this- why self study like 8 APs- i bet you arent interested in ALL of them

why take all those SAT 2's-- you need 3 at most

i dont understand people

^ I'm an overachiever :)

How did you get involved in so many political extra curricular activities? I'm very curious.

You got to seek them out. Don't keep focused on the standard list of "school" clubs, and instead of asking your school for activities or following the normal set of activities availible to high school'ers, go out into these organizations which are focused on issues that concern you in our modern day and actually go contact them and get involved - and then eventually rise up in them.

Rather than seeing what things are "open for high school'ers", simply go to an organization, whether it be a lobbyist group, PAC, or political party, and simply ask them how to get involved.

Can anyone give chances for the specific schools?

Bump .

...Bump .

What is this crap. 200 views and almost no responses

I think some of the lower colleges on your list will give you decent scholarship money and I also feel that you'll get into princeton, Yale, Cornell, Columbia. NYU would be a good place for you if interested in staying in New York and running here and keeping your connections.

Your GPA and Rank are standard (within range of HYP,etc.), so we're in the same boat. Your test scores, however, are outstanding (well within HYP range), and your ecs look solid.

The description of you ECs is pretty vague, so I don't think I'm getting the full gist of your involvement. I'm sure you'll sell it better on your applications, and I think that your ECs in that case will set you apart from other applicants. Straight As aren't everything--I truly think that ECs are what set you apart from an application pool which generally features identical GPAs and SAT scores.

What is this crap, you ask? I'll tell you what: you really come off looking like a prestige whore when you post this:

Is what I said true? Maybe, maybe not. I couldn't know for sure. But that's simply based on my first impression.

I think you have a good shot at the lower Ivies. But the higher Ivies? Really unsure. Your GPA is a bit low and your test scores are average for the high Ivies. Your ECs will probably make you stand out and might be the kicker here.

What I don't understand is:
"Projected 800"???
"self-study AP tests?"
Tbh I don't know how letters of recs from "big alumni" look to adcomms.

Well it's not name dropping, because I'm only getting them from one or two people that I've actually worked closely with me and who have seen my achievments and development firsthand, and so it wouldn't just be that paragraph "oh he's a smart leader blah blah blah".

For the ivies I said right under the line where you stopped quoting that I'm still in the midst of selecting them, but am interested in my chances at them in general. I'll likely in the end apply to only 3-4 of the ivies, and there are plenty of not-as-prestigious universities that I very much love on that list too.

Projected 800 means I'm taking it in june and all my prac. tests have been giving out 800's

Self-study AP tests means im self-studying them without a class since no AP class was offered for that subject
