thanks for reading this. and i know that everything is so unpredictable, but i just want to know if bowdoin is a possibility for me, or if i should focus my attention elsewhere. thanks for reading this :)

Not sure about the status on this now, but when I went to visit Bowdoin in January the tour guide said the orchestra was minimal. Maybe it's just a case of the tour guide not knowing the full story...anyone out there know it?

Sorry for the tangent. You look like you have as much chance as anyone else--but I'm not incredibly knowledgeable about this, since I haven't yet applied anywhere (I'm a junior). Why are you not sending your SAT scores? I was just looking at the stats, and Bowdoin says that around 70% of their students with CR and Math scores over 650 submitted them for the adcom to see.

Missouri is definitely to your advantage. I'm from Massachusetts, and I've often felt that maybe that will hurt my applications. Good luck!

Well, I took the ACT for the first time a few months ago, and my score wasn't stellar. And I'm not being modest. That score would probably keep me out of Bowdoin. :(

Do my activities and academics seem strong enough to make me a decent enough candidate?

Well, most of the general population of our school goes to community colleges. But within the IB population...we might send about 2 kids a year to really good schools. Last year, one girl got into columbia and one got into stanford. Most people just apply to local universities (UMKC, MU) out of the IB kids because they can usually get decent scholarships.

I think Bowdoin means it when they say they do NOT discriminate against people who choose not to submit scores. Just expect them to look closely at everything else--which for you is a good thing. In other words, you will have as much chance as everyone else who submits their scores. If you are a really good musician, you might consider sending a tape of your playing, or of some ensemble you play in, and also meeting with the music dept. Show your passion--show how you are unique. That helped me get in. Good Luck
