Chance a Junior at WashU-STL

Washington University in St. Louis

Junior at a public high school in Missouri. Male, junior, Caucasian.
ACT score: 34 (non-superscored)
Going for the 36 superscore-I will most likely get it on the next ACT test. (I've only taken it twice.)
GPA: This is my killer. 3.5 something unweighted. Mostly foreign language which has been killing my GPA. 2 C's in Spanish 3 and 4. Otherwise A's/B's in cores. All Honors/AP in core subjects.
Extracurricular stuff:
Varsity athlete in Cross Country/Track and Field---about 10-15 hours a week
National Honors Society
Volunteer in community aid groups sponsored by school
Strategy Game club founder
some other stuff I can't remember

Also, a possible early application here.

Would I need strong recommendations? How about a strong essay? I know I'm on the lower side of the spectrum here (GPA-wise.) Would that kill it?

bump, need more text

bumpbumpbump

bumpbbumpbump

I don’t think it will kill you
you have the scores, and with a good enough rec, you should be golden
their admissions are a bit of a crap shoot, but i’d say you have a decent shot…

best of luck

Thanks for the reply. :)

I would call it a mid to high reach for you. You have around a 15 percent chance if I had to quantify it.

Ok, now that I hear that. Is there any possible thing I could do between now and application time to improve my chance?

If you ED wash-u, your chance will be much greater since they are into the whole “level of interest” thing.

I would say your two primary weaknesses are your UW GPA and lack of leadership positions.
