Chance a low GPA but high SAT for Duke ED!

<p>Hey,
I have no hook just a typical asian male applying to college.
I'm applying to:
DUKE (ED)!
UCLA
UCSD
UCI
UCSB
BU
BC</p>

<p>stats:
basically my gpa is pretty low but its as follows:
total: 3.62 UW 3.93 W
10-12: 3.58 UW 4.03 W

<p>My SAT is
R: 740
M: 800
W: 730
Tota: 2270</p>

<p>SAT II:
Math 2c: 800
Physics: 700</p>

<p>AP Tests:
Calculus A/B: 5
Physics B: 4
Enviro: 4
Comp Sci: 4
APUSH: 4</p>

<p>My classes are extremely rigorous:
Basically took the hardest math classes that were possible for me to enroll in. These are the APs I'm taking including this year
AP Gov, AP Stat, AP Eng, AP Chem, AP Phys, AP Enviro, AP Comp, APUSH, Calculus (might be missing one more)</p>

Not bad, longer common app emphasizes interest in Poli Sci, shorter talks about badminton</p>

<p>Any feed back would be great. its okay to be brutal. Sister is 20x smarter than me so i get crap from my parents all the time.</p>

<p>Your GPA is just too low, especially for your particular anti-hook. I wouldn’t do ED.</p>

<p>I got into WashU with a gpa lower than yours and a 2260 SAT score. Anything is possible. However, your chance of getting into Duke, which is in the top TEN (WashU is number 14), is slim. Apply to top schools outside the top 10. it’s possible. I have a genius brother at MIT so I feel you.</p>

<p>you might have been given a pass if you had some hook, but you’re asian. gpa is pretty low and though a 2270 is ‘good’ compared to your gpa, it’s not particularly strong in the asian american pool. You’re extracurricular involvement, while not totally weak, isn’t too strong, at least not strong enough to compensate for weak gpa. But who knows? Update once the decision comes out.</p>

<p>A friend of mine got into Duke ED and he is in college prep (not honors/ap) social studies and english classes, but a genius when it comes to math and science</p>

<p>Your SAT doesn’t make up for your grades, and your ECs don’t make up for the rest of your application. Also, obviously I haven’t read your essay, but it really risks being generic and impersonal. Best of luck.</p>
