660 M, Math Major…

you sure about that?

Im not so sure if you would make it to UCSD its a far reach. Gpa and sat is a bit low. You defanitely have a shot at UCSB and UCI which are both also great schools
Good luck :)

thx for the reply guys ! yeaa i just retook the SAT 1. I hope I got higher than 660 :stuck_out_tongue: I was kinda hoping that my EC’s would carry me out as well as me being first generation college, in AVID, etc. etc. I know that it’s a reach, especially with the 70,000 plus applicants this year  oh well, guess i gotta wait a little longer haha

I think you def have a chance at Davis/Irvine/SB. UCSD on the other hand is strictly point system; it’s the ONLY UC school that goes by points. The rest are holistic. So basically… whatever extracurricular or “good essays” that you have, won’t make a difference. 100% stat based. Just reiterating the facts to you.

You have no chance at UCSD unless you get about 250 more points on your SAT; then it will only be a reach.

Thanks for the comments. I am not sure how well i did on the SAT, i will find out in 2 weeks :/

Will the fact that I am applying as a math major help at all?

^ Honestly I don’t think it will. Math majors are pretty common, and UCSD is a point system school nonetheless. Even if you applied to a "Study of the Letter ‘c’ " major, your chances would still be the same. You have to get into the school first, then from there, you declare your major.

dude let me be honest. SAT doesn’t really show how great or knowledgeable about math. For example, I missed 3 problems, no questions omitted and I got a 700 and a friend who took a previous SAT before mine who missed 4,omitted 1 but got a 720. Personally, I think the SAT is just a huge controversy. It has very few questions related to real-life situations and alot of them are just there to &@$! with you.Yes I admit it, I was very irritable about the SATs.But anyways personally man I think your score is fine. Just take these words from a UCSD student.
