Essays~
I have had my essays all edited from three different English teachers and peers as well. They believe that I am able to display my quirky, unique self enough to where Brown will really see how my diverse passions really fit in with the school.I feel really awesome about them.

Arts Supplement~
I will be submitting contrasting monologues along with 16 bars of a song to show my abilities in theatre… I really want to be a part of the TAP department!

Recommendations~
English teacher: phenomenal
Science teacher: It’s good, but not too amazing.
Guidance Counselor: It’s really amazing. (known her personally for 4 years)
Drama teacher (arts supplement): Really amazing, too. (4 years of interaction)

Interview~
Not that it matters too much, but I wanted to go ahead and contact the alumni in my area by email. I have talked to the alumni president through email, and he remembered me from an information session from the previous year. He then later saw me at another session and thought my answers to why I like Brown were perfect and really what he wanted to hear, and I found later on he will be the one interviewing me… which is by all means perfect. '

Overall, do I sport a solid chance of being admitted early decision? I have wanted to go to Brown since I started high school. I know for a fact it is the place for me regardless of the “fit irrationality.” I really belong here. I love using the whole spectrum of the curriculum (science and theatre, I talk about that). I hope the arts supplement helps them, too.

I’m also applying to the PLME. I feel as though my responses to those questions were definitely worth the time as well. Not that I expect to get into the PLME more than Brown… the latter is my most prized goal.

You’ve posted before, but my advice still stands. IF you think you could bring up the ACT significantly (2-3 points) I would retake and apply regular decision. If you are not sure about a better score, then apply ED. Make sure, given how much you want to go to Brown, that you do indicate that you want ED to regular undergrad. (I would give you a very unlikely possibility of getting in the PLME program, but if you really want it, as you say that is worth the essays.)

Brown is definitely my ED option. I saw your post. Sorry for the bombardment.

Besides a low ACT score, everything seems to be great. If your essays and recommendations are as awesome as you say, I believe that you definitely stand a chance. Good luck!

The Lemelson-MIT acheivement could be a significant thing. Being gay itself doesn’t matter, I think, but if you wrote an essay about it, it could help you. If you could have taken AP calc but didn’t, why are you taking precalculus online right now? Why not take AP calc online?

ACT is low, but good EC’s and URM make up for it. Your chances are decent at ED brown. I don’t think you have any shot at PLME, though.

I started taking Precalc over the summer and my school was going to let me start AP Calc AB without having finished the prereq beforehand online, which ended up not working out…so now I’m just finishing the precalc class for my senior year.

Oh, I was able to get a superscore of 31 on the ACT now! Woo! Thankfully, Brown does indeed superscore.

Accepted PLME! Thanks to everyone!
