Matches? Reaches? Thank you :]

very good grades—SAT scores, only EC’s don’t “jump” out

Really? I consider my grades a f@%#ing joke next to my peers -_-

Yeah, EC’s are kind of meh in a way…your grades are good but I would try to stand out more.

You have time to be more impressive. Get some awards to improve yourself

I doubt that she has had many award opportunities come your way, seeing that shes only a sophomore. The only school I know much about that’s on your list is Northwestern, which seems like a high match/ low reach if your scores are as good as you expect. Good luck!

USC - Match
Northwerstern - Low Reach
UCI/UCD/UCLA/UCSD - In or Out of State: IN!
UCB - In State: IN! Out of State: Match
Syracuse - Safety

You can shoot higher if you want. =)

“realistically anticipated grades”? What? Predicting a 770 and 800 on USHist and Math2 SATIIs, respectively?

You’ve got too much anticipating going on here. You’re seriously planning to juggle an entrepreneur camp, a “very selective” leadership camp, a Sociology course, and an internship at a law office or publishing firm, among the activities you already do? Where, may I ask, are you going to find the time to do all of this?

I applaud your enthusiasm, but you’ve got to be realistic here. It’s great that you’re getting into the college process early, but anticipating perfect/near perfect SAT scores, and numerous awards among other things, I must say, is very conceited.

That being said, It seems like you’ve done a solid job up until now. You’re what I like to call a top student. Keep it up. I won’t chance you because there’s really no point to it yet.

I don’t see anything wrong with predicting an 800 on the Math2. It’s a very fundamental exam accompanied with an extremely generous curve.

With that said, going by the rest of your predicted scores, I think NWU serves as a nice fit, and I think you have solid chances at being accepted there.

We can’t chance based on “anticipated” scores.

Well, I expect those scores, and being a junior, I think I have a pretty solid chance in those. Only one person got an A in our AP Euro class, anyways, and math seems to be a bit of a joke for me. I don’t mean to sound cocky when I’m saying all of this, but I’ve been through a lot more than you think. So sorry for expecting/anticipating realistically, but what am I, a rising junior with goals, supposed to do?

Wow, pretty impressive.
It seems like you have a good shot at the schools you’re looking at.
I wish my school offered as much EC’s as it seems your school does! :)

jenni0z: I understand where you’re coming from, but I also know how naive nervous high school students can be. I was the same way, with less anticipating lol.

@bdl108, thanks for letting me in the know :)

Your rank seems way low… barely top 25%. Yet I don’t notice many B’s.

Good choices, though you should probably add some more reaches. If your scores are as good as your expect, then you’ll be pretty competitive.

Also, nothing about your ECs really pops out at me. Try to find a passion & get more leadership.

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/733467-chances-hyps-etc-will-chance-back.html

Grades look good, though I’m confused why you rank yourself so low with a pretty good GPA. I attend a similarly rigorous school with a comparable GPA and I’m top ten percent. I would check up on that stat definitely. Your schedule is rigorous enough to get into all of those schools, and if you keep up your GPA you should be good for all on that side of things.

However, I find your “realistic anticipations” of SAT scores a tad sketchy. The PSAT for some people is hard to predict, unless you are willing to study the same amount for it as you do for the SAT. Even then, a lot of people (including myself) score higher on the SAT than on the PSAT, though it has to do with how much you study I suppose. Predicting an 800 on a SAT II test could be a bit unrealistic, especially since you haven’t seen those style tests before.

Even some of the activities may be a bit over anticipated. Time is an issue here. But, if you can pull all of this off as you anticipate that would be very impressive.

But, if you get everything you anticipate then:
USC = match [simply because the ECs don’t jump at me, but you’re only a sophomore]
Northwestern = high match
Syracuse = IN
UC Berk = match

I don’t know much about the others sorry

oh, don’t give us “anticipations”. If your going to anticipate’em, you better LIVE UP TO THEM. (I don’t mean to be mean… just ought to warn ya. keep your drive and motivation up. ;))

well, if you DO live up to your anticipations (life is full of surprises), then: (california only)

USC: match
UC’s: match or safety, depending on the school.

best of luck/skill.

LEMON

So, its hard to do without real SAT scores, but, as everybody has said, your grades are really good. Keeping them up is really important.
So:
USC - low match
Northwestern - Match or high match. Apparently they just love seeing straight As on a transcript, so if you can pull that off, then its a match.
Syracuse - Safety
Berk - Match
UCLA- match
other UCs = low match/safeties.

Northwestern: Low-Reach
USC, UCLA, Berkeley: Matches
Everything Else: In
