Chance A Smart Indian!

Ummm...about 85%, with a class rank of about 3/70 (my school doesn't calculate an official rank though).

Hey Ajay, sign into MSN if you see this.

Dude IMO you have a SUPERB shot at many other colleges. If I was you I would do the following:
1) Draft a letter stating some reason why you couldn't apply before their deadline, and then,
2) Apply to Princeton, Duke, Northwestern, Cornell and Yale (Since these schools give aid to intls), using their paper application and Fedex it

Just applying to Harvard, Stanford and MIT is a stupid decision.

It's not about "why" you missed the deadline but by "how much" you missed it. Its highly unlikely a college will accept your application 2 weeks after the deadline, but no harm trying.

I doubt he'll get an extension now.

OOPSIE! Sorry for the quadruple post...I guess my impatience got the better of me...hehe

Bloody IITians- of course they ace the SATs.
You make my first attempt 2240 look like crap. And I am applying to exactly the same unis as you (for economics).
Just go to IIT naa? you belong there only

^ Another pompous git on board! Welcome.

I hope all College Confidentialites get into their dream schools!

What happened to this dude?

Yea, want to know as well!!! so bump it!

Bumps aren't going to bring this apparently smart fellow back. Don't you think if he had gotten in somewhere he would have come himself ?

Yeah, but don't you see his stats? He really is one smart Indian. He must have gotten into some top school.

Maybe he was too excited to come back, and now is too busy prepping for the trip to come back.

Let's just wait and see. :D

Mmmm yes I'm curious :D

From whatever little I read, it seems he's just applied to 4 schools, from which MIT and CalTech are long shots due to less science-related activities at a high level.

If you delay your apps fopr 2 weeks, they will put you on waitlist.................(the dots can tell many things then!)

^ I didn't get that

He's saying if you submit your application 2 weeks after the deadline, they put you on the waiting list. idk if this is true and idk what this has to do with the thread, since the OP has clearly stated he just applied to 4 schools.

I am going to start with my s'more year at Caltech this Fall.
I am really curious to know which university he got into this year. Personally, I feel that he should have mentioned the college he got into considering he did get a lot of criticism as well.
I agree he got a great SAT score much more than what I got...however, I think that SAT I scores really do not matter that much. However, SAT II scores matter significantly. And, his math SAT II score is low considering he applied only to some of the best technology schools in the US. Even though he is not planning to major in maths, it would have been difficult.

Also, Caltech is much more selective than MIT and Stanford solely because it is a very small school (only 30 international students were accepted my year). And, also its selection criterion are very different from other schools. I consider myself lucky because we have no Indian (International) in the junior year and only one got in this year at the bachelor's level. I might seem as bragging but I seriously consider myself very lucky.

I hope he did get into an amazing college..!!

Also, @ rashi : you claim to know me personally but I am sorry I really don't remember you. Just curious, how do you know me?

You must have safety college even I thought that one can manage with fin aid but its really hard for intl students. I know someone with a 2380 SAT score he was perfect in everything he got 15th rank in IIT and so much more. He was rejected from MIT,Havard,Stanford,Princeton,Caltech but he got into Berkeley which is as good as MIT. So, what do you have to say.

Do grades or rank or standarised test scores depict the creativity or ingenuity in someone??......Colleges like MIT,Stanford,Princeton,Caltech etc,etc look for these qualities in students and above all "A desire to LEARN"..And "an innovative nature"...That's what I've understood.........Correct me if I am wrong!!!
