Hey! So, i'm applying RD to Vassar and would like to know what my chances are. I'm a QuestBridge Finalist and I'm using the QuestBridge app to Vassar. Is there anything one can do to boost his or her chances at Vassar? Do they like people who visit, high test scores, etc? Anyway, my stats are:

-Middle Eastern male from elite public high school in Illinois
-Major: History
-QB finalist as mentioned

AP Scores: 4,4,5 (US,EURO,ENV Sci)
I'm taking 5 APs this year and will have taken 8 by graduation
UW GPA: 3.70 (top 10%), Weighted=4.55
ACT: 31 (do they superscore?)
SAT 2: i'm taking them in January... will they receive it in time?

EC: i have several leadership positions, sports awards, a history internship, etc.
other info: i've taken 3 classes at top tier schools and have gotten A's in them

i think you have a good chance as well! your gpa is impressive and ur ACT score is great! its really cool that you’ve taken classes at top tier schools and have done well in them! i’m sure admissions will love that.

Vassar definitely looks at your level of interest. It’s a partial truth that kids who apply to Vassar are Brown ED rejects, so the more Vassar sees that they’re not just a fall-back school for you, the more they’ll like you. It’s also another reason why ED kids have a better chance of getting in.

I actually didn’t get to visit because I found out about Vassar so late, so I couldn’t apply ED2. However, I did write them a love letter on parchment paper with a wax seal for my “your space.” So hopefully they will get the message that I am madly in love with them. Or, they’ll think I’m crazy.

Do any of you happen to know how much they actually consider the yourspace? My SATS just make Vassar range. But I do have a high GPA and a lot of interesting clubs like Philosophy Club and a poetry performance guild I started just to name a few. I also wrote my main essay on how I struggled through reading as a child and now as a senior I read Dante’s Inferno on my own…Anyway, I know Vassar’s academics are outstanding for such a funky school but I’m kind of hoping/wishing my originality may save me… ? Input?

It definitely gives you an edge because the more of the “optional” stuff you do, the more you look like an actual, colorful kid who wants to learn at Vassar.
