I am an in-stater junior from a VERY competitive public high school in north dallas. You might be able to guess which one because it is at the very top. If you could chance me I would really, really appreciate it. By the way, even though I plan on transferring to McCombs, I will applying as either an economics or Poli sci major.
3.9 weighted GPA (5.0 scale)
3.48 unweighted
2000 SAT
33 ACT
100+ hours of community service throughout high school (NHS, Young Men's Service League)
Lacrosse team, maybe a captain a senior but not banking on it
Various ECs (working with special needs children as a paid job, NHS etc)
Hopefully kickass essays? (I've read quite a few of accepted Longhorns' essays and plan on working extensively with a tutor)
Also important, I am out of the top 7% or whatever it is for auto admit, I am under top quarter from my calculations.

No matter what I think you’ll definitely get into the school at least as a UGS or Poli-Sci major, however this is no problem because you can take your prerequisite courses, score really well then internal transfer into McCombs like you stated. The important thing to note is that the University looks at class rank more than anything else when drafting in freshman applicants. The good news is that you have a great ACT score, and your ECs are nice as well, the bad news is that you are only the top 25%. However despite this, I’m pretty positive you’ll get accepted into the University, maybe just not into Economics at first.

EDIT: I read your original thread wrong, I thought you stated top 25% of your class, it appears you stated top 25% of 7%, my bad. You are most certainly getting into any department that you want if that is the case. Cheers!

No no no, you were right the first time! I am out of auto admit and in the top 25% of my class. Sorry, that was my mistake for not phrasing it correctly. Thank you so much for your reply too.

I would have a couple of safeties. Everyone has heard about the HP kids who are top 10% and don’t get in, because the top 7% state-wide took all the spots. I know several kids with weighted 4.0 plus from the DFW area who were rejected from UT because they weren’t top 7%.

I’m not saying you have a bad r

It depends. Are you an in-state resident of Texas? that way it’s easier for you to get in
