Thank you!

To be honest, your ECs and awards are relatively weak. I wouldn't say you stand a very good chance at Yale. You're sepia in a pool of technicolor applicants.

I disagree with the last post to some extent. While the list clearly does not have a million minor clubs that you joined at school, it is clear that you were ambitious and took opportunities to explore academic interests during the summer.

First generation college student usually looks good as well. Yale/Harvard/Stanford are obviously going to be tough, but the other schools look like they are all match/slight reaches for you.

uh wow, that is one low SAT score for a valedictorian.

thanks

yeah you have a pretty good chance in getting in, just raise that SAT score and you should be fine. But what race are you? cuz that makes a big difference as well.

I second futurexreject.

Don't let other people in this thread make you feel bad. The people tied for val at my school all have below a 1900. Seriously. That said, the schools on your list and higher scores would obviously help, but you said you nailed it so that's definately good. Make sure your EC's are focused, write a good essay, and you should get into most of those schools.

Very little chance at HYS.

wait to see the results of your SAT... you could have an awesome shot at most of those schools if you really nailed it.

Yale, Harvard, Stanford- no.
The rest- probably.

Weak EC's. The rest is good. Reject @ HYS because they care equally about EC's as academics, accept at all the rest because they don't care about EC's.

But your SAT is abnormal for someone of apparently such academic excellence. If you get a 2100 or 2200 on your second try (by your note, it sounds like you might have!) then you're set.

Harvard last year had 3200 valectdictorians along with a bunch of other well qualified people.

only 2800 got accepted? My numbers are a little off, but its around that ballpark

Ok...So admittedly my SAT score the first shot last June was low. However, all summer I studied like a crazed person. I took a SAT prep course and all my SAT practice tests were over 2200. SOoooooooooo.....crossing my fingers! :)
Thanks for all the input!

I did significantly better on SAT practice tests than I did on the SATs, so that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Well...I will know October 23rd...if in fact I did as well as I hoped.
I prefer to think positively! :)

your ECs are kind of weak, as well as your SATs. even if you did do well on SATs this weekend, you're still pretty much as cliche as anyones gnna get. But HAVE HOPE! you're a first generation college student, which is a HUGE plus. So have hope, and make those essays excellent.

ivies are always a reach, but for all the other schools ur a match. i think more than one of those r safeties...haha

I don't think HYS are high reach but your new SAT score will have a great effect on it.ON the other hand, your EC's are GREAT!.Make sure that they focus on your EC's rather than your academics because even if you get 2100 or 2200 most applicants to HYS has got these scores.I think you stand a chance in HYS and other schools are very probably-will accept.Good luck on your applications!

i think u also have a very good shot at those universties. harvard and yale are reaches for everyone though!

p.s. thanks for responding!

Hey thanks for chancing me. Obviously, you know you have to do better on your SAT's, which it sounds like you did. I really don't think anyone of the schools on your list is a school you could not get into. I think Harvard is the toughest to get into, but you've obviously been involved with clubs and projects. Besides, you are a valedictorian. I think you have a serious shot at HYS, and i think you're in at the others.

P.S. As a side note, personal opinion, but I love pepperdine. If I were you, I'd go there. Parents don't want me to go that far west though haha.

Yale, Harvard, and Stanford would be a reach, though the others i believe you can get into. Work on your SAT score.
