^ Gracias! I agree, I will not rely on AA, which is why I will definitely raise my ACT score (I just got done studying for it, as a matter of fact).

Also, I just received confirmation of being a QuestBridge Prep Scholarship Recipient and am invited to a Yale Conference.

u should get into a few or more of these schools

You definitely need 1 safety and 1 match.

hi Olive. You're looking good, with the exception of the ACT score. Definitely retake it. Maybe try the SAT too? Might do better on that one. Suggest adding more safeties to the list.

I disagree that you need another safety at this point in time. If you would be happy going to UM and you apply as soon as their application comes out, you should have an answer back before you hear from Yale. If at that point neither UM or Y have come through, you can then pick more safeties to apply to.

I would agree that you should study and retake the ACT or SAT.

Are you really taking the hardest class schedule at your HS with no AP Calc, Physics or Chem??

You'll be a strong candidate so long as you get your test scores up.

Also, don't forget to take the SAT II's and make sure to do well. Lit, I hear, it pretty difficult, so hopefully you'll do well.

I really have no interest in the hard sciences or mathematics, not to mention AP Calc in our school requires us to take a test at a college even before we are in the class and I wouldn't do good at that.
I have to say, Math has always been a struggle for me and just now I'm fighting to have a B at the end of the semester. I wouldn't be successful at any of those classes. Not to mention, I don't want to give up classes I'll enjoy like AP Euro and AP English for classes I'll be miserable in. I know I'm taking the hardest schedule in my school, especially by taking the initiative to self-study various AP classes.

I'm not arguing about which courses you should take, that's your decision. And remember, it's your GC, not you who says how difficult your course load is.

You asked for an evaluation of your chances and I was surprised that your HS would not have those math & science classes, so I asked about it. I'm always amazed when a person asks for a critique of their CV but gets defensive when someone asks a question that doesn't sit well with them. Your math and science coursework are weak, period. Other parts of your application may or may not make up for it, but let's keep it real.

I wasn't being defensive, I was merely stating that my individual courseload is one of the toughest, if not the toughest, anyone has taken in my high school, my GC can attest to that. If I had any inclinations for a career in math/science I would take those couses, but I don't, so I won't take classes which will not only give me a very hard time, but will not serve much purpose later on in life. I think schools on my list will get the idea that I'm not a math/science person, alas not many classes in those areas, yet more than enough challenging classes in other areas like social sciences/humanities.
I really don't think top schools want all of its student body to be math/science fiends, so I would like to think they prefer people with more diverse interests and who take the initiative to expand on those interests, even if they are not in the quantitative sciences.
