Chance/advise me - Georgia Tech, Duke MBA

I'm currently an undergrad sophomore (technically a Junior, almost a Senior by credit hours) at Florida State University with a 3.7 GPA. I'm triple majoring in Finance, Economics, and Criminology.

Next year I plan on starting an Honors thesis research paper under a panel of multiple professors within the Criminology + another undecided department on a topic relating to cyber crime.

I really want to go to a good business school directly after undergrad and would like to stay in the South East. I like technology/programming and had FSU had a better undergrad CS program I may have picked that as one of my majors.

Right now my ultimate dream school is Georgia Tech. They've been working their way up the ranks of business schools (US News put them tied with Emory at #22) and I've been emailing their advisors to see if there's any way I could work on a Bachellors in CS while working on my MBA, if I'm accepted.

I'm also interested in Duke because they also have a good business school and CS department.

What else do I need to get into a good business school? I've heard at several grad school workshops that research, specifically the multi-semester long Honors These is like a giant gold star sticker on the application.

In high school they stressed community service, is that still expected for graduate school?

What can I do outside of raising my GPA and praying for a good GMAT score that will help my chances of getting into Georgia Tech?

I plan on starting an online business this summer. I guess if I can make it profitable that will help me out too.

Thanks everyone!

If you really want to do programming then an MBA is really not right for you. You definitely can’t/shouldn’t be getting an undergrad CS degree while getting an MBA.

Anyways, what you really need is work experience. In a few years you will likely have a very good profile, but right now you are not ready for an MBA.

Yea I finally heard back from Georgia Tech and they said you can’t be enrolled as both an undergraduate and a graduate student. It’s one or the other.
