Thoughts??

Chance me @ these schools
-NYU
-Princeton
-Harvard
-Columbia
-University of Miami
-Emerson

I think you’re definitely into Columbia, NYU, Emerson, and U of Miami. Even though I would consider Princeton and Harvard a reach, I definitely think you have a better shot than most. Your resume seems pretty solid and on-par with what most Ivy League applicants probably have, BUT, I think the fact that you are African American definitely gives you an edge. Colleges LOVE to hear that you’re a minority since most are looking to up their ratio of minority students to Caucasian students. I think your minority status along with your superb stats might give you the edge at schools like Harvard and Princeton. Good luck :)

I don’t know how much factor ethnicity places in these elite schools, but if I were to judge you on academics/ECs alone, I’d say you’re set with NYU, you have a chance with Columbia, and that Harvard and Yale are reaches, as they are with everyone. Your SAT scores are by no means spectacular for these schools, nor are your SATII scores, but I would imagine that your being African American would increase your chances fairly significantly.

No, I disagree with the above poster’s assessment. NYU is definitely a LOW match and I’d go as far to say that yes, you’re going to get into NYU. Miami is even more likely than NYU. However, the rest of the assessment I would agree with.

I think your minority status will help you with the Ivy Leagues, and your transcript overall is pretty impressive! here’s my opinion:
-NYU - match
-Princeton - reach
-Harvard - reach
-Columbia - reach
-University of Miami - match
-Emerson -match

You have a pretty good combination of colleges on your plate! make sure you do have some safeties though =) (although I think you probably do have some… but you just don’t need anyone to chance those haha)

You are definitely competitive. While Ivies can be unpredictable, you will likely acquire acceptance into several of those schools. Best of luck!

the fact that you’re a minority and the fact you’ve written a book - outstanding for college, because both are rare in applicants. could’ve taken more APs to boost app, class rank is good.

-NYU - in
-Princeton - mid- to high- reach
-Harvard - same as Princeton
-Columbia - low-reach to match
-University of Miami - in
-Emerson - in

No, I wasn’t planning on taking the SATs again :-(. I thought a 2100 was pretty good for all Ivy leagues as a starting point and I thought me being a URM would help as well.
