Chance an actual average student for top schools?

So, I am applying to the following schools for business:

NYU Stern, EDII
CMU
Emory
RPI
Northeastern
Boston U
UPitt
Penn State
Drexel

--

GPA: ~85% UW, not including my 4.0 and 5 senior APs, UW. Reason for ED2.

SAT: 2100/1400

SAT2: 750 M2, 700 Chem, 610 Lit

Recs: All excellent, GC describing situation below in her Rec.

School does not weigh honors classes.

Past AP tests, not including APs this year (5).

-Compsci - 5
-Stat - 5
-Calc - 4

Math up to Calc II currently at a com. College. may take Calc III in spring.

Sciences including AP Bio and AP Chem, Honors Physics.

--

Situation: Father died very unexpectedly (10 hours after being released as healthy from a hospital) and this was before my freshman year. My mother went into severe depression. My freshman year was bad, 80% average, and it's been going up 3-4 % per year.

I own a profitable five figure business, two patent pending apps, and I manage all taxes, legal, fiscal, and credit related matters along with some programming. I have a business partner. Company has merchant accounts, is registered, etc. Don't really want to go too deep to bore people, but any questions can be PMed.

My essay is about overcoming my fathers death and opening a business, what I learned and how this shaped my personality.

Please excuse any errors in my writing, submitting via iPhone app.

Thanks!
:)

Because of your business ec’s i would say a good shot if you apply ed.

Thanks - I’m applying ED2 so they can see my 4.0 UW and 5 APs this year.

– any feedback appreciated as always.:)

Up :). Any feedback?

Are you certain of being able to afford NYU? It has a poor reputation for financial aid. If you need significant financial aid, it is not a suitable ED school, and should be considered a reach at best.

Yes, with my business equity I can afford it. Parents willing to put in 30K based on EFC and I make enough.

Just want chances via acceptance :).

the fact that you run a five figure business is baffling enough, let alone following your fathers demise. I think this is really unique and definitely beneficial for you as a person and an applicant. Your SATs are fairly good and given your situation, your GPA is understood, especially now that you’ve redeemed yourself once recovered. I think you have a great chance and good luck!

Chance me back if you get a chance
