prolly just cause youre from alaska will spark some interest.

Bump, anybody else? I’ll chance back!

You’re biggest problem is going to be deciding on which ivy to go to!!! :D

Does anyone have a guess about the likelihood that I’ll get accepted to ivy league schools/Stanford/MIT (in terms of a percent, maybe)? I’m still trying to figure out where all I should apply.

oh you will get in no worries

great stats and ecs. i think you’ll get accepted to most of the schools that you’re applying to. For HPSM you have around a 50% chance because its very competitive but i think you’ll get into at least one of those schools if not all of them.

How much does legacy at Penn help? Does anyone know?

So i live in minneapolis and just so you know…if you apply to the U of M you are a shoo-in. The application is only based on scores and GPA and some extracurriculars a little bit. You would probably get into the honors program also, which is amazing. The fact that you have aced every test youve ever taken and you are sick at debate or whatever, and you’re from alaska, you probably have nothing to worry about!

Bump, does anyone know how legacy status if factored into Penn admissions?

Harvard (EA)- mid-reach (better chances than most; perfect SAT, etc., and ALASKA will help haha)
Princeton- mid-reach
Stanford- mid-reach
MIT- mid-reach
Brown- low- to mid-reach
Penn (legacy)- low- to mid-reach
Cornell- low- to mid-reach
Northwestern- high match
Duke- high match to low reach
University of Minnesota- match (i think)
University of Washington- match (i think)

overall, your standardized testing is perfect (literally lol), and your ECs are really strong (especially debate!). you’ve got a great chance at many of the schools on your list; you’ll have a hard decision to choose which one to go to!

Excellent stats! And being from Alaska is a plus also. I think you have a chance at all those schools!

i would say you don’t need to worry about adding safety schools, since you’ve got perfect testing scores and an appealing amount of ec’s. you’re quite the renaissance man, if i may say. the only thing that would be potentially harmful is by the variety of ec’s. i can tell you’re amazing in debate and athletics. but i’m a little bit confused by your hospital volunteer and mentorship with a doctor. however, if you can make all these ec’s fit under the umbrella of the characteristics you want to reflect, then you pretty much have no problem. just make sure not to boast too much about having an extensive list of activities and forget to say what kind of person you became as a result of these. again, really awesome stats, interesting essay, fabulous ec’s, and strong recs should get you into most schools. i wish you the best in the college process~

Thank you for your responses! I know my ECs are a bit all over the place, but they are legitamently all activities in which I’m interested. Hopefully my genuine interest came through in the application.

I think I’d call Penn a match or high match with your stats. You’re in good shape! Don’t stress!

Chance me?

Regarding your question about legacies at Penn, they do take legacy status into consideration. I visited Penn last weekend and the admissions officer who ran the info session basically said that they likes to form familial bond through Penn and strengthen the family to university relationship. The way I see it, if you’re on the edge and you’re a legacy, you’re in. But he did say that legacy does not make an application out of nothing. I’m a legacy too, so this is good news :). But for Penn, you would probably be in anyways.
