Chance an average junior who has no idea what to expect??

<p>Yeah so now i'm getting really worried after seeing some of these threads here. Before I knew anything I was confident I would get into a college of my choice but I am not so sure now... If you chance me I will chance you back (supply a link!). I still have yet to take SAT's/ACT/SAT subject tests, so tell me your best prediction! Thanks!</p>

<p>School: Public, Competitive, Only gives out Weighted GPA, Doesn't rank.
Ethnicity: White with some middle eastern and european background
Possible Major?: Something Business, Technical, or Science related
GPA: 3.5 UW (I think) and 3.75 W from Freshman and Sophomore years
-My sophomore and freshman years all together had 3 Honors, and the rest standard with A's/B's. By the end of junior year I will have 3 years of spanish, 4 credits in math (I was behind because of trouble in my childhood), and 5 credits in Science (I spent my freshman to sophomore year summer advancing from a low math level, and sophomore to junior year taking Physics H over the summer)
Current Junior Year Schedule and projected grades:
Algebra 2H - A
English 3H - A
US History H - A or B
Spanish 2 - B
AP Biology - B
AP Chemistry - B</p>

<p>Senior Year Schedule:
Pre calculus H
English 4 H
US Gov H
AP ES
AP Stat
AP Computer Science A</p>

<p>Assuming I get 3 A's and 3 B's my UW GPA will stay at 3.5. Unfortunetly I do not believe it would be possible for me to do any better than that.
SAT: Assume 2000+</p>

<p>SAT Subject Tests in Biology and Chemistry in June. Assume 600+ in both </p>

<p>EC's:
-Volunteered at hospital 80+ hours as of now (100+ by the time I apply)
-Chess Club at school
-Tennis Team, Have taken lessons and attended clinnics and summer programs for the last few years
-This summer I will be attending a Biomedical research internship. If for any reason I am not, I will be taking a normal summer job
-I have done some independent computer programming. I also am starting to mod video games on the computer.
-NHS senior year or tutoring program later on.
-Is watching TV and playing sports with friends one? =p</p>

<p>The colleges I am interested in:</p>

<p>-Franklin and Marshall
-Carnegie Mellon
-Penn State University Park
-Pitt Main campus
-Bucknell
-UNC Chapel Hill
-USC
-Vanderbilt
-Rice
-Penn
-Michigan State
-Emory
-John Hopkins
-Georgia Institute of Technology
-Northwestern</p>

<p>Maybe I am aiming too high?</p>

<p>I am only familiar with a few of those schools, so I cannot say anything about many. First, Carnegie Mellon is very, very competitive. With only Algebra 2 after junior year, it is a very long shot. UNC, while not as hard, is still up there (probably top 50), and as a result of your low gpa and how far you are curriculum wise, I would say long shot as well. USC, longer shot than the first two I mentioned. I don't want to sound blunt again, but if by Penn you mean UPenn, then don't even waste your time, 4.0's get rejected every year. Like I said, I don't know anything about the others, but I'm sure you have a good chance at some of them. Good luck!</p>

<p>If you get ~2000 on SAT and ~3.50 GPA:</p>

<p>-Penn State University Park (match)
-Pitt Main campus (match)
-UNC Chapel Hill (no)
-USC (no)
-Vanderbilt (reach)
-Rice (low reach)
-Penn (no)
-Michigan State (match)
-Emory (match/low reach)
-John Hopkins (high reach)
-Georgia Institute of Technology (match)
-Northwestern (high reach)</p>

<p>Sorry, but I am unfamiliar with the other schools:
-Franklin and Marshall
-Carnegie Mellon
-Bucknell</p>

<p>bump..........</p>

<p>'Yeah so now i'm getting really worried after seeing some of these threads here. Before I knew anything I was confident I would get into a college of my choice but I am not so sure now...'</p>

<p>I know EXACTLY how you feel.... Hahaha.. It gets depressing doesn't it? XD</p>

<p>yeaaaa I hate it so much I wish I was a second semester senior lol.</p>

<p>Uhm, take note that adcoms will see the difficulty level of your classes. So if your GPA is not as high, they will take into account the rigor of your classes.</p>

<p>I agree with al of ChangeIn2012's opinions...but i am familiar with F&M, CMU and Bucknell</p>

<p>F&M is a low reach to match. Really depends on Sat's
CMU is a very high reach to a no. You need amazing math(i.e. perfect on SATs and AP)
Bucknell high reach</p>

<p>Just to fill in some holes. I agree with all of changein 2012's listing but as for </p>

<p>F&M- I would say it is a low reach.
CMU- In my opinion is a match to low reach
Bucknell- is a high reach</p>

<p>its hard to estimate your test scores. just relax, do your best in classes, take those tests, and come back!</p>
