<p>I am South Asian(Indian). I live in Houston, Texas. </p>

<p>G.P.A.- 3.8/4.0 (Unweighted) 93.8/100 (weighted)
Class Rank- Anywhere from TOP 15 PERCENT To TOP 19 PERCENT (I don't know for sure)------I KNOW THIS IS BAD...HOW MUCH OF A FACTOR Do YOU GUYS THINK IT IS? Look at my grades below and tell me if they are good enough.....My counselor did say in her rec, that at surrounding schools I would have been top 10 percent.....Do you guys think schools will see my rank, and my gpa, with my sat score and assume my school is compeitive, or will it hurt me a lot?</p>

<li>RICE E.D.-- Rice is especially hard for kids from Texas...anywhere else I think you would have had a good shot of admission</li>
<li>Cornell Colleges of Arts and Sciences--this is pretty competitive RD--REACH (35-40%)</li>
<li>Johns Hopkins University- low reach (you have good scores and a decent GPA) </li>
<li>Northwestern University- low reach/high match (good shot here) </li>
<li>Washington University St. Louis- low reach (WashU is unpredictable, but if you've shown interest, than you have a good shot) </li>
<li>Duke- REACH </li>
<li>Vanderbilt- low reach </li>
<li>Emory- low reach/high match</li>
</ol>

<p>You have a good shot at getting into one of your low reaches...you'll end up somewhere good.</p>

<p>I really haven't shown interest at WashU, or Emory, they've just been sending me mail, and I've been sending mail back to them......I would go and visit the schools, if I do go, and they still reject me, then the visit would have been worthless. Like for Rice, I interviewed, visited, even spent the night there, and I got rejected....</p>

<p>@Ivybound11- look at his rank then look at the Rice website stats for 2012- 68% of the class was in the top 5% of their class and around 89% were in the top 10%</p>
