Major applying for: Mechanical engineering except for UCB where I will apply for Nuclear Engineering
GPA: 3.76
Units: I'll have like 90 something (switched majors after first year)
Extra-curriculars: Active in a few engineering clubs on campus, college swim team.
Essays: Probably nothing special. I'm not the greatest essay writer around.
Schools applying to: UCB, UCD, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, Cal Poly SLO
Pre-reqs: Depending on which school, I will either have them all done or only be missing one.
TAGs: I submitted one for UCD and UCSB my councelor said she would approve those two.

I think that about sums it up. So what do you guys think my chances are at these schools?

You have a very solid GPA and most of your prereqs done. So you’ll get into UCD for sure. UCSD has just declared mechanical engineering impacted so that’s why he couldn’t TAG in there. If you have above a 3.5 GPA, you should be admitted though.

UCSB is always unpredictable; last year I had friends who applied to the same major, comp sci. one had a 3.8 and finished all prereqs - didn’t get in. But my other friend who had a 3.6 (with the same stats) got in. So who knows… I would say 50% for SB.

SLO is impacted so you might get wait listed but at the top. Hopefully you get in. If you can increase you’re GPA by the end of fall, you’ll get into UCLA and UCB (they love grade trend).

I know what you mean when it comes to raising your grades a bit more. Think of it this way: this is your last chance to improve your GPA before the UC’s take a look at you… Keep hitting the books hard for a few more months and it’ll pay off.

Yeah SLO’s too much fun and a great school for engineering. Keep in mind if you get into any of those schools (which you will obviously), you’ll be totally set later in life.

@lmendoza.012 wow, you really really give me a gigantic boost of motivation. Thank alot!

It really can be too much fun haha. Soooooo many beautiful ladies there, plus great weather and the beach…
And I’d only be set later in life if I apply it. Once I graduate I don’t want to get a job, I want to travel and I’ll just take up bartending jobs or something to pay for living costs haha.
