I’m Australian but originally Pakistani/Afghan and I can fully pay.
Applying for chem engineering from a british school.
ACT: 34 COMP (33E,34R,33M,36S with a 10 on that combined essay thing 1st take as well)
SAT subject tests: 780 Maths 2
700 Chem :((
I took the SAT once and got a 2080 and i had to send this to some schools such as the UC’s: how much will this affect me?
British schools don’t give gpas so to speak but I’ve taken GCSE’s and A-Levels and have gotten:
8A*'s and 2A’s at GCSE (The A’s were in French and English lang)
4A’s so far at AS in Chem, Physics, Maths and History and I’ve been predicted 2A*'s and 2A’s for my final year of A-levels.
Decent EC’s nothing crazy:
Founded School’s Engineering and Technology Club - Really involved in this around my school always trying to engage the rest of the students on engineering concepts and technology
Leadership role at school’s MUN club
School squash team for a couple of years
Leadership role at my school’s information committee
Head Boy of my house + Prefect for a few years
Taken a few courses at the Georgetown and CMU campuses in Qatar, won an award for my research paper on the detrimental effects of natural resources at Georgetown
Interned at the biggest telecom company in Pakistan
Tutoring kids in maths
Have done charity work with Reach Out To Asia multiple times
Won multiple awards at an international annual maths challenge called the UKMT (3 golds)
Common app essay: 8 - talked about how visiting Pakistan annually has influenced my growth as a person
Supplements weren’t all that great but I tried my best not to make them generic and pointed out what aspects of each school really interested me
UC Essays : 8
Teacher Recs: 8.5-9
Haven’t read either but on very good terms with both teachers and I expect they’d be great
Counselor Rec was also very good I heard
We don’t rank in our school but I’d guess I’m in the top 5-10%, about 140 or so people in our year
Unsure of how I stack up considering only a few other people in my year are applying to the US. Do i have a shot?
