Chance at admission?

I am a Canadian student currently in grade 11 from a small town in ontario.
I applied to: Cushing Academy, Cheshire Academy and Berkshire School.
I have alot of EC's and community service.
My grades are all mostly between 80%-90%
(we don't have GPA or class rank)
I got 83rd Percentile on my SSAT (ouch i know i was nervous)
and my interviews went fairly well i thought

what are my chances of getting into any of these school i am becoming more nervous as the days go by.

If you were applying for 9th grade, I think you have good chances at these schools based on the very little I know about you. However, I know nothing about 11th grade applications which can be more difficult than 9th or 10th grades. It varies by school and by year. Good luck!

i think you have a lock for berkshire. your SSAT is WAY above average for berky

rilly? oh my gosh i am sooo nervous becuase i rilly rilly want to get in and I thought my ssat score was good but then I saw some kids scores were like 99 percentile and that made me nervous. Our schools in Canada are completely different we don't have class rank, or GPA ( half the kids at my school probably doesn't even know what GPA is), we dont' have AP classes and are not very big at all on standardized testing. The SSAT is the first real standardized test i have written that matters, I mean i've been in various math and science competitions but the SAT and ACT are unheard of here. I have alot of extra curriculars and community involvment hours. My grades are pretty good all except a couple over 80. My interviews I thought went well. Berkshire was my first one and it definately didn't go as well as the other two so I was kind of iffy on that. I really hope I get in if anyone has any suggestions, advice, comments ect. I am willing to hear them.

Thank you

I think you are very qualified and the AdCom will look at you hard at each of the schools. You never know the decisions they make but GOOD LUCK!

I think you could've aimed higer than Berkshire, Cushing, and Cheshire.

Berkshire has a very fine reputation, and I hear the campus setting is beautiful. I'm not very familiar with the other 2 but that doesn't mean that they are not great schools for you. Good luck!

thanks. I now realize that I could have aimed higher but when I started the application process kind of late and when I started I didn't know anything about boarding school. I wish I would have known what I do now but oh well I will be happy if I get in anythings better then where I am now. I also didn't think I had a good chance so I took it safer.

If you don't mind me asking, what town in Ontario are you from?

I was born in Ottawa and I go up there for the summer and school breaks to visit my dad and grandmother.

I'm from Sault Ste. Marie, you probably haven't hear of it. Its about a 10 horu drive from Ottawa i've been there many times

I've heard of it. Are there any other students from your school applying to boarding school?

I was going to apply to Ashbury College if I don't get into the private day school here. Have you heard of this school?

The name sounds familiar but i can't place it. I am also applying to Trinity College School in the Toronto area. No theres no other students applying to boarding school from my school i'm pretty sure i'm one of the only ones ever to apply. do you live in Canada now?

No, I live in Michigan and I've lived here since my parents got divorced.

What do you like about Trinity? It seems like a great school...

I live on a twin border city to Michigan, if you didn't already know that. Trinity is a pretty good school it has a solid academic reputation and seems like a nice campus. However, comparing it to the US bs's i applied to it is lower on my list. The information booklet they sent out was very good but in talking to the admissions office i was not as impressed as i was with the US bs's.

In other news i got a call from Berkshire yesterday asking me if i would consider repeating grade 11 because it is very hard to enter a school in grade 12. I would actually prefer doing this so i have a better education entering university. Does this call indicate that i probably got in?

Yes it does.

Congratulations. Berkshire is a great school. I'd probably attend it first out of the four school mentioned, then Trinity. ;)

hey berkshire was my top choice anyways but i was really nervous for the interview because it was my frist oen so i thought i didn't have a chance. i'm so excited for March 10th to come!!
