I have a 3.75 unweighted 4.1 weighted gpa all honors accel and ap classes, okay sats(reading is bad mid 500 math 690 writing mid 600s) and plan on takin them again. by graduation I will have 4 aps. I want to major in either secondary Ed with math or international business with spanish (both math and spanish are strong points). I am in 3 honor societies and have been part of a varsity sport for 4 years. Both of my parents attended and graduated gcc, as well as 2 of my uncles, my aunt, and my grandfather. I have a strong christian background and have participated in various community service projects both in and out of my church.

Have you interviewed there? They LIKE people to interview. The gcc legacies will definitely play there, along w/ your Christian (cap C, btw … that’s one you don’t want to miss on your app for gcc) background will be a plus. Your math scores belie your interest, but frankly I’m not sure how much their admissions function would align (and penalize) your academic possibilities w/ your apparent lower scores. You don’t say if you’re a boy or girl. If a girl, could be tougher. Were I a betting money-changer? I think you are “in.” But remember … take mine nor any others as gcc gospel. They can do some really weird things in the name of Christianity. Also, if you’re from Montana instead of Monongahela, that would be a BIG plus. P.S. DO NOT walk on the grass when you visit. Automatic rejection! And when they ask you your favorite beer, answer is … root and/or birch! And about the sin thing? Always vote “nay! no way!”

Not yet… and I typed this really fast forgetting to cap. How much will my reading score penalize me? I’m taking the acts as well…

Your reading score will hurt you. Try to get that up if you can. That said, I think with a good interview you will be fine.

I think you will be fine since your GPA is high. I would also look at Wheaton if decide to retake and get higher score on SAT.
