Work Experience:
Got my first job a a car sales place in the spring of sophomore year, organizing the file room. Worked there for about a year until there was no longer a need for my position. Now I work at Old Navy as a sales associate.

Volunteering:
All four of my honors societies require volunteering hours and like I said, I volunteer at nearly every music department fundraiser and event. Outside of that, not much.

"Hooks":
- I think my essays were pretty solid, I'm a good writer.
- I attended St Paul's Advanced Studies program, a 5-week summer course for outstanding New Hampshire students. I received excellent evaluations at the end of the course and sent them in with my college app.
- I am a first-generation college student from a single-parent home.
- My Penn alumni interview was the best college interview I've had yet. The interviewer complimented me on being able to show a good piece of who I am.

Thank you from a nervous college applicant! :)

bumpity bump

Not bad, I’d say you have as much chance as anyone. By the way, when people refer to hooks on this board, they usually mean URM or First-gen college student. So you have 1 hook. While your activities aren’t as amazing as some on this board, I think they’re pretty decent.

Hooks = Recruited athlete, legacy, URM, first-gen to college. You are first-gen to college, but none of your other “hooks” are hooks.

Okay, thank you!
