I know that these are only stats and I did not include extracurriculars, but so far how do I fare for Penn?

Your academic stats put you in the competitive applicant range. But tons of people with great/perfect stats get rejected because of crappy EC’s, essays, recs, other stuff- I’ve seen it personally. So if you want a better chancing (though by no means 100% accurate) you’d be well off posting your other stuff.

@thetester123 Thanks for your insight at telling me about EC’s. I’m currently a junior and here are some of my EC’s. Plus I expect my essays to be very good by the time they are submitted.

Subjective:

Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Captain for Varsity swim team this year, competitive club swimming, president of school club, in multiples club such as Model UN, I have worked and conducted research in a laboratory at one of the most well-known hospitals in the world, NHS, MHS, varsity track

Job/Work Experience: Lifeguard and camp counselor for three years. Swim coach over the past summer.
Volunteer/Community service: More than 400+ hours of community service. I try to help in any way possible and have tried very hard to do this. Some examples of work I’ve done are clean up parks and pack and distribute food for food pantries and banks.

Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM- Hispanic, Legacy?- Uncle went to Penn (I assume this does not count but why not see if it works)

I feel like I am forgetting things, but its not like I’m sending in my application for a while

OP, what major are you considering, and what ECs do you have that relate to that major?

Will you swim for your college’s team? Are you good enough for varsity D1, D2 or D3? Have you started to get attention from coaches?

I’m pretty good, but I’m not the best. I was thinking of continuing swimming through college, but not at the varsity level. I definitely want to continue because it’s so great but I think I will pursue club.

@lostaccount I’m not 100% sure what I would like to do but I was thinking of maybe trying to apply to the Huntsman program if I decided to do Internationla relations, but I’m also considering biology or maybe even apply to Wharton for business. I have to see but if I decide to do Huntsman I may pick up a third language, I am thinking of creating a business and I also participate in MUN, and if I do biology I am conducting research.

For your demographics, you do stand out. Huntsman is hard for everyone, and while Wharton may be difficult (as it is also for everyone), you have strong statistics and extracurricular activities. When you apply, you may want to shorten that list. Remember, UPenn prefers a diverse student background with a unique array of passions. While it is clear that you have passions, you also seem to be scattered in some activities. List the major points and really be you. While I think you should have no issue gaining acceptance to the College, I also think that you have a good chance of getting into Wharton. Good luck! I hope to be back home in Philadelphia after I wrap up high school, too!
