I have about a 3.45 gpa right now ( completed calc 1, calc 2 and stats). Ill be applying as a social ecology major ( social science major; online it says if you want to switch to this major the gpa requirement is 2.8 and 3.4 for TAG). I took a political science course at UCI last spring as well. I tagged to UCI but my 3.45 might go down i get a B in gen chem. Any luck? :/

Hi,

I am in the school of social ecology as a Psychology & Social Behavior Student. I am a transfer student.
I think your GPA is okay, but how many of the prerequisites are you missing? Also, did you TAG?

Im probably going to be missing a criminology class that is not offered at my college and a environmental science class too. However, it says that this major does not require a completion of prerequisites. I think it says that for a PSB major too. How are you liking it? @socal79

Also, Yes i did tag since the requirement was a 3.4

It looks like your chances are pretty solid, Mik194.

We all have to take the CRIM class at UCI and you are right, prereqs don’t have to be completed. Mine were not. Just try and keep your GPA up and you should be fine.

I like it so far. the quarter system went my much faster than I expected. But the campus and people are nice.

Okay thanks! Ill try to keep it up Its hard since I’m taking bio and chem classes bc I want to go to optometry or dental school so I’m technically a bio major!
What were your stats/ when did you transfer?

Nice, I hear ya. I am technically a Public Health major. I just transfered as PSB so I could get in to UCI, I have to take one class here before they let me change my major. I wouldn’t have been accepted otherwise.

I had a 3.7 GPA when I applied and a 3.75 when I graduated (may '13). This is my first quarter at UCI.

Nice! Im planning to transfer to Public health too! And yeah i wouldnt have been accepted if i tried since i needed to ochem for bio. Thats a good gpa. Im scared about mine. Do you know any social ecology majors or know if its easier to get into than psb. Bc i hear psb is getting a little tougher since everyone is going into that ( the gp requirement went up for people that want to switch to a psb major)

I believe SE is a bit easier because of all of the majors within the school of Social Ecology (PSB, CRIM, Urban studies and Social Ecology) Social Ecology is less applied too.
everyone I know is PSB or CRIM

Oh okay. It’s probably because less people know what it even is haha. Thanks for your input gives me more hope

No prob, best of luck
