Hi everyone, i am a current junior. I was just wondering what my chances would be solely based on my current stats.

SAT I (breakdown): 2400
ACT (breakdown): N/A
SAT II (place score in parentheses): Bio (M) 800, Math II 800, Chemistry 800, Physics 800
PSAT: 240
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 1/400
FRESHMAN YEAR APs- 5 Bio
SOPHOMORE YEAR APs- 5 Calc BC, 5 Chinese, 5 Chem, 5 Phys B, 5 Environmental Science, 5 US History, 4 Music Theory.
JUNIOR YEAR COURSELOAD- AP English (forget which one), AP Stats, AP Physics C (both), AP World History, AP Macro, AP Government, Spanish 4, Multivariable, some other crap
SENIOR YEAR PROJECTED- AP English (other one), AP Comp Sci, AP Spanish, linear algebra+differentials, grad bio classes at local community college in biochem and biotech.
IB (place score in parentheses): N/A
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): TEAMS engineering competition top 5 in nation, AIME qualifier 2X, USABO finalist, National AP Scholar sophomore year

Sports: Tennis since 2nd grade, varsity sophomore and junior year. team top 4 in state sophomore year.
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parentheses): Science Bowl Club (Founder, Captain of A team), Bio Club founder, Newspaper editor (projected chief editor next year), Science Olympiad, Model UN (best delegate multiple conferences), piano 10 years, school magazine writer.
Job/Work Experience: Helped Dad install hardwood floors in house one summer.
Volunteer/Community Service: 150+ hours volunteering at hospital, dragon dancing, special olympics
Summer Activities: Research at a state university one summer, cleveland clinic another. Will be presenting research at Intel
Essays: Should be decent (relative to everyone else’s applying to HYPSM i guess)
Teacher Recommendations: Great
Counselor Rec: Great
Additional Rec: From professor at university, should actually be almost considered a hook. Got many other students into HYPSM almost entirely based on how excellently he writes the letters.
Interview: lol, decent?

Amazing stats. If you write “Decent” essays, you should get into at least a few of HYPSM. Extracurriculars look very good.

If any of the following is true, I’d be shocked if you didn’t get into at least one of HYPSM:

  1. You are from a state that is at least somewhat underrepresented in college admissions.
  2. USABO finalist carries at least as much weight as USAMO.
  3. You professor's rec carries as much weight as you think it does (how do you know the other students weren't otherwise well-qualified?)

If not you still have a decent shot though; good job!

  2. USABO finalist > USAMO. Technically its equivalent to MOSP, but everyone knows the science olympiads don’t match up at all lol.
  3. Me and the prof are pretty chill. He told me there was this one girl he worked with that never got past Intel regionals ( and didn’t have many other “legit” stats). Went to a school that historically sent 1 person per year to MIT, and that year two people got in early admit. She was deferred. He rewrote her entire rec, and she got in regular admissions. And he promises the same for me.

I think that you are likely to get into at least one of these schools if not more, assuming that you write great essays and that this professor’s rec is truly that amazing. Best of luck!

If your stats are real, wow. It would be a shock to see you declined at all of HYPSM. I don’t see many schools rejecting you. Good work and good luck!

You have a pretty solid chance at gaining admission to all of these schools. Good luck!
