chance for banneker key or gemstone?

Hi, I'm an instate kid and would really like to get the banneker key full scholarship. Does anyone know how to go about applying for the scholarship? Cause the website is not really clear.
Anyhow, these are my basic stats, if anyone could chance for banneker key or gemstone program that would be great.

wow your stats are amazing! hey! im at NIH too! :)
I would say definetely YES for gemstone but a maybe for banneker key…
honestly dont be surprised if you get banneker key (bk) and dont be surprised if you dont… what I’ve noticed with the bk recipients is that they are alot of minorities and not many asians (no I dont have anything against minorities because I am one myself)…So I would HONESTLY say the only thing that is keeping you back from bk is your race…yes i know it’s veeerrry sad but unfortunately true. But I hope you get it though! You seem like a genius and people like you should get bk! and did I tell you your stats are amazing! lol

Based on your stats alone, i’d think your chances are excellent for both (if gemstone is what you wan,t mention that you like group research on the app). Whether you get the full ride or not will depend on your interview and family income. If the need is there, it’s likely you’ll get the full ride. It’s likely that most of the B/K invitees will have similar stats.

Fantastic job! Keep up the good work.

I’d say you’re definitely in for Gemstone and possibly for B/K. I don’t think that they determine who gets the full ride based on race. Three of my white friends from my school, which is in Maryland, got the full ride B/K and they are completely qualified for it. And we only have a class of 85 students.

I wasn’t saying that race is the deciding factor. But it does play a role. It is just something that I’ve noticed and something that should be kept in mind. Again the stats are excellent and should at least be looked at for banneker key. In my school at least 5 people got banneker key and two of them dont even have a 4.0. Others had waaaay over a 4.0 and didnt even get nominated for it. So dont be surprised if you get bk and dont be surprised if you dont…

My son received the full Banneker/Key scholarship this year and will be an incoming freshman. I thought I would add that although someone mentioned that if there is a financial need you would be in the running, this was not the case for us. We submitted no FAFSA and absolutely no financial information whatsoever. Bannker/Key is not a need based scholarship.

Def in for Gemstone. (Duh? What did you think you needed? A 2500 on your SATs and 5.0 unweighted? LOL.)

Bannaker Key, well, I’m not so sure. I had friends who got into Harvard but got only 1500/yr in scholarship money.

I had others who were qualified and got the B/K.

I think there are too many good students like yourself coming into/applying to MD from the competitive schools, so it’s no guaruntee even with perfect stats that you’ll get the B/K. There’s only so many people they can give it out to, no matter how many people apply.

You are def. qualified but it is somewhat of a crapshoot. Good luck. Brush up on your interview skills :).
