I will be applying to CPSLO among several of universities. I'll be applying to SLO as an environmental engineering major for the fall 2014 quarter.
My GPA on a CSU scale is 4.25
My SAT (cr + math) is 1310 (1980 overall)
I have yet to receive my ACT scores, but will retake in December anyway.
Also, on the CSU app for CP it asks for participation in extra and co-curricular activities I selected the 11-15 hours per week option on account of the sports I do + band, and that I hold leadership positions in both. However, it does not have you specify what you do, only that you are active outside of school. (I'm assuming they'll verify once you receive a preliminary acceptance or something.)
Do I have a decent chance of being admitted for environmental engineering?

You are a perfect match! Your SAT is in the high 25% percentile, as well as your GPA. Environmental Engineering IS impacted, but you definitely are a great candidate for this school.

Are you looking at the UC’s? Davis would also be a great match, for environmental at least.

@ssmith yes, I am looking at Davis! I’ve also been looking at a lot of universities with civil engineering programs because of the close connections with environmental engineering. I was thinking of doing early admissions for CP but when it came down to the last moment I decided not to.

University of Oregon also has great environmental programs. PLUS the campus is BEAUTIFUL!

UO would be fantastic, but I’m looking to compete NCAA for XC and Track… and I wouldn’t have a chance to do that at UO considering they’re the top in the nation! :p

Totally look at Oregon State also.

Cal Poly SLO: match

Look into Oregon State. UO doesn’t offer engineering.

Also, great match for Cal Poly

thank you, all! :)

I think you have a great chance at CPSLO! And yeah, definitely look into applying at Davis.

LOL funny, I was thinking the exact same thing for myself too. I was considering applying to UO but then I for sure wouldn’t stand a chance to compete in track… But at least I’d be in the running capital of the country!

@newyorkcity exactly! haha it’d be nice to see a few Olympians and future Olympians walking down the street every now and then haha
