Chance for Columbia, Duke, Northwestern, and others...will chance back!

Helllllllo! Please tell me what you think...desperately waiting to find out where I'm going to end up...

Asian permanent resident

GPA: 3.821, 4.316
Rank: 8 of 60
SAT I: CR680, M750, W650, Combined 2080 (ACT's more important...)
SAT II: Chem 740, Math II 780, Biology Molecular 780
ACT: 33 (English 31, Math 36, Reading 29, Science 34, Essay 9)
Intended Major: Biomedical Engineering/Civil Engineering/Material Science
AP: school offers none.

Course load (the hardest in class, I know everybody's courses because its such a small school):
Senior semester 1:
History of the United States I,
Western Humanities I,
Calculus w/Analytic Geometry II,
Studies in Applied
Ethics,
Physics I,
and Physics Laboratory I.
Senior semester 2:
Calculus w/Analytic Geometry III (I THINK it's either the one above BC, or the latter part of it, I really don't know),
Differential Equations,
Physics II,
Physics Laboratory II,
American National Government,
World Religions,
Intro to Speech Communications,
Basic Computer & Info Literacy,
Life Management,
Fitness Lifestyle Design,
and Personal Fitness.

EC: School was small and did not offer anything besides those I participated in and an Ethics Bowl Team.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (11-12, Champion and 3rd place in NAGA International Florida 2008),
Science Bowl (12, 4th place state, first year available),
SGA (12, President),

Also NHS (10-12, nothing major here)
Rotary Exchange student right now in Germany, speaks English, German, and Chinese fluently.

And my HS offers no AP, it's one of those schools where all the students take classes from a local college for their 11 and 12 so they graduate with a Diploma and an AA.

bring up your gpa and try taking a few classes at a local college

lobster, thanks!

I think I should’ve mentioned a couple more things tho…I’ve already graduated, these stats are as final as final can be. And all my classes in the last 2 years are in a local college, which means there are no APs, and no honors, only dual enrollment courses…which I guess has its ups and downs.

It looks like you’re taking a really rigorous course load, and your SATII scores reflect that as well. I think you’ll be admitted to at at least half of the schools to which you’ve applied, but that’s just my random guess:) Good luck!!!

There is no Calculus above BC, other than Multi-variable, so that’s probably the latter half.

Thing is - your school may or may not put you at disadvantage for not offering APs or a variety of EC’s. However, your grades and ACT scores are great, which might be enough to counteract that.

Thanks xrCalico and livelovelaugh (btw I LOVE your username, its so happy, haha)!

Yeah its multivariable calculus, I’m not familiar with the AP classes so I wasn’t sure if BC included it. I hope it won’t be such a problem with the ECs and APs, but I’ll find out soon…its a nerv wreaking 2 weeks…

Isn’t multvariable more advanced than Calc BC? I think people usually get to take multivariable after they graduate from BC.

Not having AP classes is not a problem if they are not offered at your school.

Anyway, good luck=)
