I want to go to deerfield or st.andrews for high school, but I'm not sure what my chances are. I know you can't be 100% sure your chance for getting in but...
All grades are A's or A+'s, except for band where I have a B+
I play lacrosse up an age group and in a statewide team, as well as on my school team. I have also played lax for 10 years. I play soccer on a school team, I play tennis on the weekends and I ski every weekend as well. I am a peer helper, which means I help special needs kids become more outgoing. I am always picked for the most responsible jobs at school (last week I carried the American flag into an assembly honoring veterans). I am part of student council, Free the children and want to start a club helping younger girl transition from elementary school to middle school. I play the trumpet in the concert band, and also know how to play the clarinet. That's all I can think of. Thanks for chancing me!!

I am new to the boarding school application process, so I’m not sure if this comment will be too helpful. I think you’re a great candidate. Have you taken the SSAT’s yet?

The best schools care about the person behind the numbers. You have amazing grades and as long as you do well on the SSATs I think there is nothing to worry about. Have you had your interview yet? It’s important to show that you’re passionate about something so make sure that shines through in your essays to help you stand out. You sound very qualified though! :)

Thanks I haven’t taken the SSATs yet or had my interview, both are scheduled this month though. Let me know how your application process is :)

good luck! although schools don’t pay too much attention to Ssats, they like well rounded students who can contribute something to the school.
mind checking out my thread? thanks

Swimmergirl3, sure, just give me the name of the thread and I’m all set :)

I’m not sure how to link it (I’m on a smartphone) but the name of the thread is “Chance me for BS?” I’ll bump it for you so you can find it :D

You seem well-rounded. I hope your SSAT scores are good and have a good interview. Be noted that Deerfield is one of the most competitive schools to get in with traditionally the lowest acceptance rate. So, I would recommend you to widen your school search. I wish you all the best.

Not exactly…

The higher the school’s avg SSAT score, the more it cares about the score; otherwise, how could it consistently maintain the high avg year after year?

Also, the top schools prefer to assemble a well-rounded class, not assemble well-rounded students. That means, given the option, they prefer the student who is excellent in a particular activity or two, rather than the student who dabbles a bit in many different activities.
