I would really love to go to Deerfield Academy, Hotchkiss, or Choate. I am from the Midwest. I get all A's, but last year got A's and B's and one C+. I haven't taken the SSAT yet but I am working with a tutor. I currently attent a private day school and play field hockey and lacrosse. I am on the math counts team and I am involved with our schools giving back group, and girl student alliance group. I am white and would not require financial aid. P.S. I also tend to interview very well. I went to Taft Summer school and did not do so well, by the way. Please chance me!

someone please!

@lexie101816,
I’m a rising eighth grader so maybe I’m not the best person to “Chance you”. But I figure that you’re not totally out of the running. How many people in your school get straight A’s? If a lot do, then you might have a problem. If very few kids get straight A’s, then you’re probably fine.

What do you mean by alot? How would Deerfield ever know that?

You seem okay. (: But about what ifax said, sometimes schools will check the difficulty of your school’s curriculum, how good your current school is, etc. as to weigh the academic difficulty of different applicants. Oh and be sure to make your essay/interviews pop!

Are there any others from your school applying ?

No, I live in the middle of the midwest. No one goes away to school unless you are like, a delinquent. I went to Taft Summer School over the summer and did not do very well there. My parents seem to think that it will ruin my chances at getting in to a good school. What do you think? Any tips on interviews and essays? And I know someone on the board at Deerfield, but we are not blood related. Will that help?

please chance me!

Those grades could hurt you, but I would try anyway. The full pay, the fact that you improved your grades, are from the midwest, and ECs will make schools attracted to you though.

Good Stats. Good Stuff. Good Luck.

lexie101816,
On the principal recommendation they ask how many kids get certain grades. So if a good number of kids have 4.0 GPA’s at your school and you don’t then Deerfield will see that and they won’t be impressed. However if your school is like my school where almost nobody gets straight A’s, then getting that one C+ won’t kill you. As for knowing someone on the board that might help you, but it’s not a legacy. As for the interview/essay just search for a thread giving interview advice. I’ve picked up that you should “be yourself” and try to portray yourself as an interesting person. Set yourself apart from the other applicants. Anyway, good luck getting into Deerfield!

@urbanflop, will the fact that I know someone of the board there help me at all? Also what if i get good remmendations? and have a good interview?

As you can see, I am really nervous about Deerfield. If the one C+ was in the seventh and there is clear improvement from 7th to 8th, then how does that look? So DA could also ask my school what the grade averages are and stuff like that?

Ummmmm, you seem okay for Deerfield. Not that good though. Probs waitlisted. Def not for pea and andover

well what can i do to make it better?

Lexie, don’t mind too much about Ehphant’s comment. You DO have a shot at Deerfield. You are a full pay, and your stats look just fine. if you work hard enough this year, i’m pretty sure you will get in.
(sorry but again, no one knows for sure, just my feeling)

You do seem pretty good! I mean I don’t know how your school is compared to other schools. If you were at my school you would get in. Also u didn’t put ECs down so idk if you’re a food athlete or musician or whatever.

What’s a food athlete? I think I might be one of those!

Lol, I meant good athlete.
But i’m guessing a food athlete is someone who eats a lot of food and concoders it their sport. Or someone who does a lot of sports but eats a lot of food, thus never being skinny. (that’s me lol)
