It’s only from fall of 2009 though, but I think the admittance still lies in the 50-55% range. There’s no stat for out/in state though, but in states usually have a better chance of getting in.

Jhchawk, would you consider yourself a “typical” 3.4 student? You really should be careful when stating that you got into Michigan with a 3.2 GPA. First of all, a 3.4 is slightly higher than a 3.2. Secondly, you got a 1540/1600 on your SAT. Thirdly, you attend oneof the best high schools in the country. Finally, you did well in the Science Olympiad. Most 3.2 students simply do not have a 1540 on the SAT.

Just to go off on a tangent, anyone know the proportion of in-state v oos students for Engineering; specifically when compared to undergrad as a whole. It’s somewhat trivial, but I like the idea of meeting/interacting with more students from other places, that is, not from this ‘interesting’ state.

I have no actual numbers (though if you searched around I bet you could find some), but I’d say it was about 70% instate, 25% US-OOS, 5% international, just based on the people I’ve met. I think based on who I’ve met, I think there’s a higher proportion of OOS people in LSA than there are in Engineering.

I would assume that the percentage of in-state undergrduate students would be similar at the CoE as it would be for the university as a whole (60% in-state, 30%-35% OOS and 5%-10% international).

Sorry for bringing this post back from the dead, but I just wanted to get any update on chances because I just got my june act back. Composite 32 ; E32 M34 R27 S33.

Well done ali. 4.0 unweighed GPA with a 32 on the ACT should be enough to get you in. Make sure your application is completed (with transcripts and recommendations) by early-mid October.
