Thank you very much!

All of the school you mentioned are reaches beacus they are arguably the most prestigous schools in the nation. Howevery, you have a chance although there are more competitive applicants out there than you. Believe in you passions, and work towards a shining future. Being genuinely happy and social is what life is about. You obvioulsy have an interest in STEM so pursue your passions.

Harvard - High Reach
Stanford- High Reach
Princeton- High Reach
MIT- High Reach/Reach
Caltech- High Reach/Reach
Duke- Reach/ Low Reach
UPenn- Low Reach/Match

Your ECs are above average (us chem olympiad semifinalists etc.) and your chances will probably be above average, since your grades/SAT shouldn’t really hinder you

thus I don’t see too many differences among each college chances. Maybe HPY, Stanford, Caltech, MIT higher. yeah they are all reaches  cuz how it is D:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1515027-chance-me-ill-chance-you-back.html</a> if you can!!

Bump
I would love it if more people could chance me. Thank you! :)

If I may ask, what Guinness World Record do you hold?

Assuming that you’re in the top 10% of your class (which you probably are), your academic stats indicate that you’re a competitive applicant. But beyond saying that, it’s really difficult to “chance” you without seeing your entire application (including teacher recs and essays) and comparing it to the entire applicant pool.

At this point, all you can do is work on your essays. When you sit down to write them, focus not on getting in but rather on representing yourself authentically. The essays that stand out really are those in which a student’s voice is apparent. Discuss something you care about in a writing style that reflects your own voice. It’ll really help if you’ve developed a clear “passion” for one or two things and showcase those passions in your essays.

Those awards though–DAMN.
Anyways, I think you have a chance, but it’s a reach, just as it is for eberuone

Duke is definitely a match though

Hi NewDivide, My school did a world record for the World’s largest ice cream sundae and I was one of the committee members who helped to organize the event.

that’s so awesome! how big was the sundae? lol

It was 815 ft, 2 inches.

holy crap! well congrats!

Thank you!

bump

You will be a competitive applicant – and as many are already commenting, it is basically impossible to accurately say anything more detailed than that.

Quick piece of advice: if I were you, I would not retake your SAT I – I am of the opinion that your score in that is plenty high enough for any college already. Instead, I would take the SAT II tests the first time they offer them next year. That way, in the off chance that you do not do well on them, you will have another chance to retake them before applying to colleges.

You do need SAT2 scores for these schools to be chanced. Get to score at or above the 90% of each subject. That basically means 800 in Math2 and near 800 for other subjects.

You stand out as a strong applicant with your extensive list of awards. The only thing I’m questioning is your lack of volunteering. Maybe you could fit some in this summer.

I don’t really think you need volunteering cause its clearly not your thing, and the 50 or so hours you’ll get before apps start is not going to do much. I mean, if you have nothing better to do, sure why not, but something more STEMy would probably fit you better

You are all-around impressive (BUT NOT AN URM IN ANY WAY!!!). However, I think your single strongest asset, and what gives you an edge and a high chance of getting into any university, is your 12 on the SAT essay. I’ve heard from countless admissions officers that they can gain access to said essay and often use it as a tiebreaker in the admissions process, especially among the hordes of nearly-academically perfect applications. They know that you have a short amount of time to write an essay that is original in every way, unlike your application essay. Good luck! Chance me?

dont take 4 subject tests thats a waste of money, none of those schools require more than 2

Adodie: I was wondering if I should as well. Here’s what my thoughts are. For the Math, I feel as though colleges will see my EC’s (ARML, AMC, AIME, etc) related to math and that it will be fine. However, I only managed a 740 on the writing and I heard from many people that 750+ definitely gives you leverage. In addition, I heard that for the top schools, 2300+ is the optimal score. Can you please give me your input? I definitely see your point though. In addition, if I do what you say, then I will be able to apply ED to colleges as I cannot if I take the subject tests in November.

Thank you!
