Well, the question above… I am a Chinese girl who wants to major in ME, and I plan to choose Harvey Mudd to be my ED2. I and did some pretty good activities, and will finish 10 APs when I apply. I think I can get either Union or Lafayette in RD with some money, and my family can afford pubilc schools. So I think in ED I will do some most selective schools which is generous to internationals. Is it true that a girl is more likely to get International FA? And how many percentage of internationals can receive FA? What if I need more than 35k? Is it safe do do an ED with FA (because I have to attend the school even if I don’t get money)?
This thread is from last year, but it probably answer some of your questions. I don’t think the numbers have really changed. Mudd does not release FA information by gender. One can assume that the aid given as discussed in the other thread goes to real superstar students (no idea if that is you or not).

When you say your family can “afford public schools”, a lot of the top public schools are over $50k/year for out of state students (which you would be, of course), and provide less or no aid to them and to international students.
17%(according to the talk) is higher than I expected… Compared to my peers in China, I think I am kind of competitive… But if I apply Mudd for ED, it is still risky for I may not get any aids, right?
As for the tuition, 10k in USD means 60k in Chinese Yuan, so even 10K less will make the college much more affordable.
What can your family actually afford? What are your stats? Mudd (and all US colleges) will want information on your parents’ income and assets before they give any need based aid, too.
I am sorry for those information is to personal, so I will not post exact number here… It is about 55k in total… But this impossible to spend all these money for my education, maybe they can save 30k a year or lower… As you can see, I don’t need a large sum of money
