Hey guys, I’m considering applying to NYU Stern as part of their regular decision process (or their early decision II process!); could you give me some feedback on my stats?
GPA UW: 3.654; my school doesn’t weighted GPAs, and I will note that my junior year GPA was a 3.88 (it was quite an improvement)
SAT: 1550; 790M, 760EW
My school does not do class ranks either
Common app essay: I talked about how Model UN and my love for languages - particularly French - were emblematic of my ambitions to go out into the world and truly effect and fight for change.
I am male and Asian.
AP Scores:
5s:
Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, English Language & Composition
I received a 4 on Chemistry
For senior year, I am currently taking AP Statistics and AP English Literature & Composition, along with classes such as Multi-variable Calculus (SUPA course). I am part of a specialized business program at my technical high school, and so I’ve already taken business-related classes; right now I am taking a class called “Derivatives Trading” and “Portfolio Management”
Listed extracurricular activities, leadership positions/other stuff:
(Of course, I’ll talk more about them in detail in the application)
- Model UN: Under-Secretary-General, and I’ve won multiple awards.
- Student Council: Vice President
- National Honor Society: Vice President, French tutor (despite never taking a French class)
- Future Business Leaders of America: Co-President, inaugural treasurer and co-founder during junior year
I will also list how I’ve attended programs, like a Model UN “summer camp” at an Ivy league university, and that I once went to Quebec by myself to live there for three weeks and take a French immersion program.
Also, as for letters of recommendation, I was told that my business teacher wrote a “beyond fantastic” letter of recommendation. I’ve also received letters from my US History 1, Calculus, and AP Chemistry teachers.
Could you guys give me my chance at NYU Stern for both RD and ED2? Also, if you guys have any good recommendations for a student like me - particularly in the fields of economics or finance, please let me know!
