Extras:

I've played soccer for 9 years total - 4 years competitively.
I play two instruments: Guitar and Drums, both for approx. 2 years
I participate in LOADS of fundraisers. I raised $600 for the American Cancer Society last year. (My dad had cancer so I do this every year.)
I just started running track last year and placed 1st in thee of my meets in the 200 m dash.
I hope to join the debate club there because my school doesn't offer clubs I'm interested in.

Exeter has about a 17% acceptence rate for freshman so you many want to decide to apply to a few other schools if you really want to change schools...

....
that means nothign to me xD
region, national? international? (worlds) or like eastern us?
and btw most people play competitively....
im truly sorry if im being rude but it kindof just seems like your trying to sound like something is amazing about yourself when ive seen a bunch of people on this website playing at a MAJORRLY competitive area and not just within their county or "region."

Region meaning all the southeastern states including Texas(even though it's not really in the SE)
HAHA
funny. If I thought that I was "amazing", why would I be asking for your opinion on if I could get into a school? I know that there are people better than me and, in fact, who will always be better than me. I'm sorry if a sound a tad presumptuous, but you don't need to point out my flaws. =

soccerrocker- many people chose to PM very specific details about themselves in an effort to protect their anonymity, fwiw. You never know if someone from your dream school is viewing. Of course, this could work in your favor but typically, nah.

sorry dude,
some people think that their region is like their little section of the county.
but im just pointing out if i was a VERY picky admissions person.
i think your a great candidate and i do admit, i went kindof bonkers. xD
im sorry lol i think your going to have a great chance at getting in.
but i dont think ur mediocre. like they're are alot of kids like that but the cancer thing really looks good. sorry if i was too intense xD

this is the second time that you've insulted someone, that i've seen. what is your problem?!?!?!? be NICE or don't comment. cause at this point you look like an as*hole. hope you really don't go to exeter, you're definitely not a highlight of the school. if you're going to criticize, be HELPFUL, not insulting. if you dont wanna be nice, get the heck of CC

I think aznexonian actually goes to Exeter right now. Although the comment would not be put under the "nice" column, I think some honesty is great. Maybe a nicer way of wording it though? Insulting is not good, but criticism is definitely appreciated. Personally, if it was my post, I think aznexonian's comment would be my favorite, but I'm not posting my stats. ;)

Senay, I saw your post about your A-.. I could understand that you want everyone, including yourself, to be padded with praises and what not, but the truth is, constructive criticism is what makes you better. if you keep getting praised, you won't get anywhere - in fact; you'll become complacent. if you don't realize this at one of these rigorous prep schools, then you're ego will get the better of you. if someone says you're not good enough, it makes you work harder; you won't idle away thinking "I'm the best" when there's always improvement. i'm sorry if i'm coming off as mean, but the truth is, i'm trying to help you. you don't have to respect my opinion; i'm simply offering it - you should be the judge of yourself. but always remember that the number of applicants are large, and that in order to stand out, you really need something stunning.. and until you achieve that, weak praise won't help you.

axn exonian is right, constructive criticism is how you improve. and to be honest, there are tons of applicants that have around the same criteria as the person here, if someone tells them they're mediocre, at least they can find ways to improve.

I think saying it was mediocre was pretty constructive. I mean people don't have time to sugar-coat everything. With a good SSAT you will be in the running..but nothing sticks out to me. But then again you could be a great interviewer and write grat essays and get in. I would apply to more than exeter if I were you though.

I get that it is okay to criticize, but not when you are not even helpful. It is like a teacher saying your essay sucks and that is it. You include no advice on how to improve, and it is just plain unhelpful. Plus, I was not talking about the A- for praise, I was actually concerned. My school has major grade inflation. I DEFINITELY do not see it is as a huge accomplishment. I was not fishing for compliments either. I was concerned because if Exeter saw that I could not even get a 4.0 G.P.A or maintain straight A's at a "ghetto" public high school, I am no way in hell going to survive at Exeter.

Just because a poster is a student at a school, it does not mean they understand how the admissions committee works and exactly what they are looking for.

Take all advice on this board, and particularly from students, with a grain of salt. Anyone can state their opinion as fact and it can be harmful.

Be careful not to post details about yourselves that will identify you. You never know who is reading these posts.
