Well I will start out with the negatives... I am a white Caucasian who lives in a suburb in Kansas. Also, I will be applying regular decision, I couldn't take chances on financial aid not being enough. My interview did not go bad in any respects, but it wasn't my best either. Now for the rest of my resume:

-4.00/4.00 unweighted; class rank: 1/313
-ACT 34, writing 10
-Sat 2110, probably only going to send ACT
-Played soccer all four years Varsity Letter last two years (includes one state championship and second team all-league)
-Ran track for 3 years and will run again in the spring. State qualifying in 4x800, school record in 2000m Steeplechase
-About 175 hours of community service, includes a working with inner-city youth at a week-long overnight camp
-member of NHS, head of house
-Active Volunteer for Youth Court (system for juveniles deferred from district court), voted by real attorneys as best defense in the district
-Will have 10 AP Classes by the end of this year
-Of 3 AP classes already taken, 5 on both Euro and US History, 4 on Language and Composition
-Work as referee on weekends and worked for pay at camp mentioned above for 6 weeks straight over summer (the seventh week I volunteered because they couldn't afford to pay all the workers)
-Harvard Book Award, Principal's Honor Roll, Departmental Awards for Mathematics and Foreign Language (Latin)
-Plan on majoring in mathematics, either double major with history or minor in history
-Plans on going into Law School afterwards
Two questions:
-I love Wake Forest and would love to go, its tied for #1 for me. I know people who have better resumes than me who have gotten waitlisted and others who (i believe) had worse resumes who got in. Do you think I have a really good chance? (I guess I'm just asking to see if there is something really lacking in my resume)
-Two other people from my high ranked, but public school are also applying who have similar resumes (subtract the sports and add Academic Decathlon and Nation Merit). Will that significantly hurt my chances at admissions since there are three of us all applying to the same school?

How many people from Kansas go to WFU? That has to help.

Really good shot…send in your SAT anyways because it’s high (just an additional edge)…I had the same stats as one of my friends from high school, I made sure I was ranked higher than she was and 3 other people in the Top 15 who applied to Wake (it seems you also have the same edge)…I made sure my SAT was higher (an extra edge even if it’s optional)…and PERSONAL STATEMENT!!! Just made sure everything else you can gain an edge at, you do! If they have 200 hrs community service, make sure you have 210, etc. Not exactly sure if the “same school” thing matters, but I do know only 2 of us got into Wake from my city, and only I got in from my high school, despite my friend being so close in stats, and 3 other students being in the Top 15. So, as I said, to be on the safe side, get as much “little” edge you can get.

Thanks, I have the edge on the ACT but I think they have the edge on the SAT. AS far as community service, I easily have more. Class Rank: I am higher than both but not by much. I guess I need to do well on my supplement. Issue is that essay writing is their strong suit. So I have to do extra well. Thanks for the help.
